Part of the reason some of Road Rage's levels suck compared to others is that at one point in development all 6 levels were meant to be 1 massive level that would loop around. However they had to cut it up, since the PS2 couldn't handle it. Also about Wrestling, that game was infamous as it was the first simpsons game to actually offend Matt Groenig. It was how Marge would use maggie as an assist and he felt she wouldn't do that. After that, starting with Road Rage, the games had way more oversight from Matt and the team.

i know a lot of people dont like the simpsons game but, i absolutely loved it. i played it with my dad and i thought all the levels were really fun however, it could just be the nostalgia in me. i do agree that the open world section was very lacking either way, i love both hit and run and the simpsons game ❤

The segment on Hit & Run reminds me of why I miss Radical Entertainment. Despite being a budget studio that always has to contend with deadlines & clear development troubles, you can tell their games where made by people that clearly enjoyed making them. Chris Miller’s writing style & Marc Baril’s music are definite examples & highlights (continuing well into their somewhat controversial Crash Bandicoot entries).

man, the DS version of The Simpsons Game was my shit. I was around 9 and my PS2 hd recently stopped working, so it was the closest thing I had to Hit And Run. it was hilarious to my young impressionable brain. if you want actual great writing in a Matt Groening IP Game, check out Futurama for the PS2 :)

All I will say is the worst console Simpsons game is better than Simpsons cashed out. I would’ve killed for a Simpsons city builder back in the mid 2000’s ala sim city, hell they could’ve called it Simpsons city. Like you build your own Springfield and you have to manage it like sims city. I feel that asides from hit and run the Simpsons game from 2007 is the best game and feels like the last gasps of Simpsonsmania

I will never fathom why they only ported the Simpsons Arcade onto DOS. You don't pick any of the platforms *known* for arcade style games, you pick the platform that at the time was known for slower, brainier games w/ limited scrolling potential

I remember playing some of the PS2 ones as a kid, back when I was that age I was just happy to explore, I didn't know a word of English and skipped all the cutscenes and text, but I looked up the cheats and had a lotta fun still ^w^. Hit and Run is just Driver 2 with more platforming and a collectathon aspect to it. I have a strong memory of the Simpsons arcade game, when I was like 5 back in 93. There was a lone working machine in an alleyway at a seaside pier, I forget where exactly, possibly Western Super Mare. Anyway I remember playing it because my mom and sister got locked in the toilets for nearly an hour. I wandered out of the cafeteria and played for a bit, ran out of money, then came back in and sat down for ages waiting. Nobody came over to me to see if I was alright either. Another memory of it is when as a family with my Grandad we played in an arcade in Hornsea. Managed to get a lot further in it then. There's a different Tree House of Horror I think, I remember could play as Marge fighting zombies and Maggie as a fly thing. It was on the Gameboy Colour. I would love to see the 3D Springfield they used for the prerendered images in Virtual Springfield....won't ever get too but that map as an open world game would have been cool.

I like how through the first ten seasons, theres two "bad" episodes and theyre just clip shows (inherently not even bad episodes, im kinda shocked the singing one only got a 5) and immediately after, the ratings average nosedives easily into the low 7s, and you get 5 bad episodes in a three season span (although the horse one ill say gets too much hate)
