What a great area! I hit it pretty hard when I first found out about it. Great commentary too.

Hey Dave, nice video. I know it's supposed to be a privacy thing, but I could never understand the need for a lock on the handle. A simple barrell bolt on the inside of the door would suffice. And hey, I'm not even an MIT graduate.😂

Great tip on how close to the road some of those campsites are - something I forgot to mention in my video. Some of those do get hijacked by locals! Many years ago we ran into a backpacker on the Baker Trail (a second hand story) who told us about one shelter that the locals chased off backpackers on the weekends so they could have their beer parties.

I would love to go camping like that. Can't get my wife on board. She needs an air mattress and what not. Other people make me nervous or I would go solo. I guess I watch to many crime shows. You ever fish that stream?

Hey David, thanks for showing my old campsite along Nelse Run, you are right that is a very nice campsite. You got me planning next years adventure, those look like nice campsites along Hammond Run. Hopefully the SLOBS see this and get the hint! Too funny the saying on the bottom of the Mountain House bag. Nothing like a good chuckle to start your day. Still laughing!

Hey David, just an observation, that whole stretch where you guys hung for the weekend, there was pretty much 'nary any wood around to even have a twig fire. But there was enough wood piled up in the creek and along the banks to last for years even as busy as that place gets, I'm not including all the punkwood laying around on the ground. I had the luxury of smelling a punkwood fire all evening on Thursday. UGH! Oh the joys of camping! LOL.

My husband, now deceased, took me on this trail when we were newlywed. He grew up in Parker. While hiking that day, I nearly stepped on a copperhead. He stopped me right before my foot dropped. He had been there many times as a kid and thank goodness, knew what to watch for. Thanks for taking me back. Beautiful land.

I've been meaning to re-hike that very section. I went through there summer 2022 and had all sorts of camera trouble. By the time I got to all those amazing swimmin' holes only my cheap Kodak was working, and I got caught in a thunderstorm. I kept the video unlisted as it wasn't up to my standards. Checking google maps, Bears Mouth Bridge is over "North Branch Bear Creek", which flows out into Bear Creek proper. The NCT to Dead Crow Bridge follows the North Branch. I love the name Eldorado Road since Eldorado was my favorite John Wayne movie!

Hey David, you gotta watch your step when your coming to the road, isn't bad but us "older" farts need to watch out. Don't need to fall and break a leg only about 1/8 mile from the end. LOL Was there 2 years ago and trying to figure out where you camped at. Were you past the NCT turnoff on the loop trail? Beyond where the loop trail makes a hard right towards the one creek that empties into Minister Creek?

The place we were at as a group is after you cross the little bridge at Triple Forks, instead of bearing right and following the NCT, you continue on the Minister Creek Trail like you’re heading towards the overlook as if you were doing the loop counterclockwise. You just go up there 1/4 mile or so. GPS waypoint for the site is 41.64467, -79.17102

I have a cabin in Kellettville, it was really empty all summer. Really weird. Yeah before we got Starlink at our cabin I would always come down to the new pavilion with my laptop and post up for a few hours and get online, since we don't have any cell reception up our hollow.

Hey David, just rewatched, that section of trail between Sarvey Hill Rd. (mile marker 164.) and White Oak Dr. (mile marker 162.5.) I think the Clarion Chapter of the NCT needs to go and remark the trail. Unless it's because it's on private property, all those spray painted markings on the trees look very confusing if your not from around there.

One of my favorite places! When I’m there at our camp, I ride my bike from Emlenton to Rockland Station. I like to hike up to freedom Falls. It’s such a beautiful place. I love it there in the spring time when all of the Trillium are in bloom if you were ever up on route 38 heading towards Butler there’s a great place to go and have, good food and a cold beer. It’s called The Beer Garden. My cousin owns that place it’s very close to the North Washington rodeo grounds.❤

Hey Dave, I believe it's pronounced "GITE-EN-VILLE", used to hunt on the other end, towards Newmansville. Planning on doing a little hike on the NCT off the Salmon Creek Rd. this spring based on your vids. Haven't been there in almost 50 years. Maybe I'll post some pics on FB.

Ah man…that opening sequence makes me miss my Jeep. I had an ‘18 JLU Sport. Hard top, limited slip diff, standard trans. I traded it last year for my ‘23 Ranger…the Jeep just kept having problems & I was really worried after the warranty ran out.

I love Clear Creak State Park! I get cabin #15 twice a year: once in April with my wife & boys (to kick off the camping season) and again with two of my old buddies in November. I’ve got a ‘99 Coleman Santa Fe pop-up that me & the family use a few weekends in the summer, too.
