Hey man, whats the link for the cable? I need one like really bad! I hate the electronic 4x4!

Hey man I followed your example there and I made an actuator based off of the same kind of Ideal principles anyway I get it to actually but I can never get it to lock up so can you tell me what's up with the fuse does your 4 by 4 light still come on does all that stuff still work

After multiple attempts w/oxy-acetlyene torch, spraying penetrating oil for weeks, combined w/a 2-jaw puller, even drilling a 1/4 hole to spray penetrating oil into the pocket where the front end of the torsion bar goes into the lower A-arm, I could not separate the torsion bars from the lower A-arms (2000 F150, which is the same front suspension system as your truck) I finally cut through the torsion bar. I didn't want to destroy it, but I was more intent on saving the lower A-arms because I'm going to rebuild my whole front axle, and just replace lower A-arm bushings rather than buying new ones. All this was on a parts truck which is donating all the major components to rebuild my daily driver. Once I separate the lower A-arm from the front axle I'll use a hydraulic shop press to press out the portion I couldn't remove, then weld the oil access hole I drilled. I hope I have better luck when I disassemble my daily driver to put in all the rebuilt components.

So you went through all this because you didn’t have the money or didn’t want to spend the money (?). Either way, I give you my thoughts. First, congratulations on thinking out of the box and putting your brain to work coming up with the idea. I like that you have the ability to invent ways to improvise. That in itself is worth quite a bit. On the other hand, its kinda band aid and bailing wire quality, something a kid would do to his Go-Cart. I’ve seen this contraption work throughout my years on cars, bikes and motorhomes. I really don’t approve of drilling dashes, running cables through grommets like that nor wires hanging out of their respective looms. Kind of messy. Over time you may come to see my point but by then your quality of workmanship may improve. Once you experience true machine shop, automotive, robotics and electrical engineering you will hopefully see my side a bit.

Big high and mighty criticism with no specific advice. Where's your solution?
@spiet73807 ай бұрын
@@mikem5475 Couldn't you just pull out the old/broken actuator and jb weld it so the actuator is engaged for good? The driveshaft will always spin but the transfer case disengages. They sell a solid steel actuator that locks the front axle in. it's 150 bucks tho plus shipping. Some jb-weld would work just fine I'd think.
@mikem54757 ай бұрын
@@spiet7380 the amount of fuel economy you'd lose by reducing functionality would make that JB weld bubba repair not worth it, and it wouldn't last
@charlesperrin32284 жыл бұрын
I have an easier way but you have to remove it and put it in every time you want 4 wheel engaged

Thanks for the video. I used your method and it worked well. Removing the jackstands and lowering the truck to make the torsion keys break after they were cut worked great. I grinded and drilled the torsion keys... drilling seemed to work better. It was kind of hard to get the grinder in between the crossmember. Thanks for giving us a heads up about not having anything underneath the truck when dropping the it after the keys were cut into

Hey nice job! How is the fan shroud working now? Have you changed anything? Is the lower radiator hose in the way and did you just get a longer one? Thanks I’m thinking of doing the same thing with my shroud.
@builtfree51215 жыл бұрын
Joseph DeMasi i didn’t really end up needing to change much of anything, i did put electric fans on it, but the directions for the lift will tell you how to move the shroud, lower hose seams to be good still, pretty sure mine still has original hose even haha!
