Too many people in Texas are profiting from over development. Nobody wants to stop the gravy train. Too many straws in the ground sucking up our precious resource. Of course, global climate change is greatly adding to the water drying up. We can no longer sustain uncontrolled growth. Our politicians claim they are helpless because big money talks and you know the rest.
@douchenozzlezАй бұрын
Too many people spread out all over the place and causes mismanagement of our shared aquifers. This is why suburban sprawl and overfarming is bad.
@CG-xr5bzАй бұрын
Maybe its global warming from all those bombs.
@bigwooly8014Ай бұрын
Part of the problem is that construction and development destroy the ability of the aquifers to recharge. All the divits, gullies, and other low spots that used to retain and slow water runoff are "cleaned up" and smoothed out. This exacerbates flash flooding and erosion, which in turn further hinders perculation to the aquifers. Just limiting ground water usage will not fix the issue of recharge.
@russford7735Ай бұрын
mismanagement of the resource.
@JackParsons2Ай бұрын
We've got way too many people in central Texas for the amount of rainfall we get. The I35 corridor consumes nearly double the amount of water that's required to recharge the aquifers. When I was a kid in the 70s and 80s all of the springs from San Marcos, New Braunfels, Wimberly, Blanco, Austin would all be gushing up from the ground with force year round and I know at least half of them don't flow at all anymore and the rest are very sporadic and fluctuate drastically. We're doomed if we don't cap our groundwater consumption immediately.

Development on current residents dime needs to stop and the water company needs to return to locals hands and taken from global investors trying to by up everything and manipulate prices! Water should not be takes from water rich areas and piped or drained to water baren areas so they can continue unsustainable growth. And yes, even locally the ridiculous irrigation of non native grasses and landscaping needs to stop but this has been going on for decades and not caused the rapid drops we have seen in the last two years! This is about money in someone's pockets guaranteed and corrupt county officials taking kickbacks and one day the truth will come out but likely not before the entire area is restructured! Y'all better watch and be ready to step up now!
@Zeus-vo2nqАй бұрын
Well, the county better start dropping taxes on all of the houses around the lake because people moved there because of the lake and paid a premium for that. Probably some corruption going on and some are lining their pockets.

Thank you for this video. It is all true. I lived on Medina Lake and the same thing is happening to Canyon Lake. The drought is so obviously not the whole problem. Greed and mis-management is the real problem. This - and so much more - needs to happen - The "People" need to keep complaining to Federal, State, and Local officials. If enough people take action, it can force the issue. This is also a health risk. People got West Nile this summer on Canyon Lake. Stagnant water doesn't help. Those making money off the water with development don't care about that, though.
@robertl5754Ай бұрын

They don't use webs for climbing because they're too heavy to be supported by webs. They're not supposed to be able to climb this well (because they're so heavy, if they fall, they usually die), but they're demons. They just use webs to make trapdoors, funnel-webs and around their nests, so they can detect prey or intruders.

I looked across the living room and on the high ceiling window was this exact same sight. I remember thinking "why would a tarantula be climbing so high? And how is it sticking to a window?".
