Really tidy install, gave me some ideas for mine. Big concern though about the recorder location.. In the winter there may be condensation in the loft on those electrical boards. In the summer it will be so hot! Having a normal spinning HDD getting hot may decrease life time. The recorder I would have put in one of the rooms in the house personally...

Putting CAT 6A would have given the customer scalability for the future. A cheap cable doesn’t necessarily mean a cheap job for the customer. Also what a shame you didn’t use armoured cable to bury outside.

Hi Pete. There is no need to use shielded cable on line level speaker circuits. We normally just use standard .75mm2 two core flex. You'd only need to use shielded cable on the low level input signals going into the amplifier as these are much more susceptible to interference.

are the batteries for the AJAX system user replaceable? cheers
@DS-ll6zyelle
@DS-ll6zyelle Ай бұрын
I discussed with an authorised certified and trained Ajax installer. He clearly said “NO”. Because If done by not trained person, it could end with a “writen off” device in the worst case. And obviously it will end your warranty. And hey he charge an arm and a leg to replace batteries. A traditional “old fashion” installer told me about the batteries issues he told me it took too much time to replace them… be careful.

Why are you still fitting coax? Surely you should fit CAT5 which is more flexible as you can adapt to use either IP cameras or coax cameras with adapters. Also you should use PLAs (Powerlne Adapters) rather WiFi extenders as they don't interfere with existing WiFi.
@harrysolutionsltd7254
@harrysolutionsltd7254 Ай бұрын
It all boils down to cost, I’d fit network cameras every day if I had the choice but unfortunately we’re steered by what the customer wants/ their budget. We also don’t use the baluns or adapters from network to coax as they’re shockingly unreliable.

Wouldn't it be better to use an SSD instead of an 3.5" HDD?
@pedrovarela1635
@pedrovarela1635 Ай бұрын
SSDs doesn't make sense on CCTV installations, because are more expensive and his advantages (speed) are not needed on CCTV. Also, HDD has longer life than SSD on CCTV installations, because we're constantly writing and deleting data
@harrysolutionsltd7254
@harrysolutionsltd7254 Ай бұрын
Like pedro said, SSDs are more expensive to buy and as far as I know , but don’t quote me, SSDs aren’t designed to be run at maximum capacity all the time. The HDD we buy are surveillance grade and spin slow to prolong their life.

Run them outside and up through the sofit. just use external cable and pin it to the wall and have junction boxes for the connection where you plug the camera into. I'm happy with my installation. it looks neat and tidy, I placed my NVR in my bedroom as I figured if they made that far, I have bigger problems 😂.

Any suggestions for what DVR model is best suited for these DS-2CE72KF3T-E cameras? Something capable of actually capturing 3K res at 20fps? Ideally with PoC. A lot of the Hikvision offerings seem to only do 15fps redording or even less at this resolution. I was looking for an 8-channel model for a 6-camera system. Thanks.

Any concerns about causing moisture bridging within the cavity? I just did a quick search and came across a video from eFIXX, titled CAN ELECTRICIANS INSTALL CABLES IN A CAVITY WALL. I know the CAT5e/6 isn't carrying mains power, but it's interesting about how the cabling can become degraded by some cavity insulation, if there is any.
