I just got the game a couple weeks ago and I'm thinking about dropping it halfway into my first playthrough. Speedrunning it seems like torture.

honestly after maintaining trust in Game Freak to fix the game that they released in a broken state after months and months off issues and a DLC update that fixed nothing, idk how you could be surprised that the 2nd DLC also fixed nothing. It didn't need to, people still bought it anyways like Game Freak knew they would

I had the option to start Indigo Disk before finishing Teal Mask so it doesn't seem to be required.

Any pokemon game is already gonna be bad for a speedrun as literally every aspect of battles can vary. With RNG, critical hits, moves missing, and secondary effects like status any random battle can kill your run. On top of all this the game has way more cutscenes and dialouge animations then any previous game on top of the horrible lag. It really is a shame to see that gamefreak made a game so bad and so poorly coded that even speedrunners dont wanna touch it anymore.

Cuz the game sucks. Was a buggy mess. The gyms were not meant to be defeated in any order. The champions team Is one of the worst i have ever seen since X and Y. Nentendo needs to just let game freak work on a good game.

This video kinda made me want to play scarlet and violet. I am not a speedrunner, but a pokemon fan an i havent played it yet bc of its issues. i dont even own the games atm. but i might get them in the future.

I'd imagine some more creative categories can be added to make it more fun as well, like getting all fly locations, 100% items, 999 coins you know, stuff that doesn't require interacting with the main story

I don't know about when it was released, but now you don't have to completely finish the teal mask before you can get into the indigo disk. I was partway through the base game (I can't exactly remember where I was at) and had started the scaled-down teal mask when I was given the option to go to blueberry.

I like Zinnia because STORY SPOILERS She literally saves not only ORAS' World, but Ruby and Saphire's world too. By stopping the scientists from teleporting the meteor there.

Only gen two managed to slightly beat gen one by virtue of improvements, but only thanks to building on the shoulders of giants. all the other pokemon that threw away this progress only made things worse. I bought a Switch just to play this game and sold it within a month after completing... the game is so poorly optimized, and the frames are so choppy, that I would get headaches within 10-15 minutes of playing.
