The warping after falling for too long is a fail-safe I believe. I got stuck in falling animation in a couple of places and got myself warped, it's probably a soft-lock prevention measure of sorts.

So do you think each area in the game *has a predetermined spawn location for this SL prevention check? I wonder if the location where you spawn when *triggering this is significant to other mechanics in the game? I guess in order to test that we would need to trigger the mechanism in other locations within the same area.

Huh, I had the Casseroya Lake warp happen to me in my playthrough and just assumed it was intended behavior. I assume it happens because the game needs to play the cutscene where Arven calls you but it can't do so if you're in the air or water so it just warps you to whatever the default spot for the cutscene is, which happens to be the south side of the lake.

all these wrong warps remind me of a glitch from way back in red and green where you can wrong warp from a door in pallet town straight to the hall of fame and credits sequence. so really what yi hamaki found is just following tradition lol

4:07 It was definitely a softlock prevention warp, but there’s an extra factor to this warp that is used in the background that many games do: The warp wants to put you onto ‘valid ground’. Valid ground is used frequently as is, it’s why some games don’t let you save while in the air or why BotW/TotK places you on the ground if you saved while climbing a wall; I don’t know all the info but I think it’s safe to say that it does this as another measure to prevent softlocks. Usually this is the ground you were last standing on which is why it’s barely noticeable. However, since you were last standing on a valid ground that isn’t loaded in anymore (the mountain) and you’re about to land in a spot that currently isn’t valid (water without the surf upgrade), the game uses a fail safe to place you on the next available valid ground, which just so happens to be the land across the lake. Bonus Edit: I think I have an explanation for the rare candy glitch, too, and why it’s such a precise trick. So, as you can see there is a rare candy pick up in that tiny corner you lure the wild Pokémon to. When you send out Fuecoco to fight it and then run away, the battle keeps Fuecoco in place long enough to get into position. This position is in a spot perfectly where the rare candy pick up is on the verge of loading in and out, and since Fuecoco is very close to it after finishing the battle, it tries to pick it up for you. However, the game can’t quite register that the candy has been removed from the world since it’s barely out of load-in range, so Fuecoco just keeps constantly picking up the candy until told to stop or until it registers that the candy is picked up. Therefore, infinite candies (it’s also just really impressive how fast it generates candies this way)

I still find it crazy how when I played Pokémon Red, a game which is notorious for glitches, I barely ran into any noticeable glitches, but when I played through Scarlet, I got Koraidon stuck in a falling loop, I clipped out of the map, the world sometimes flickered out of existence, the game softlocked in a Raid Battle, etc. etc.

To put it simply, experiencing an earthquake on the 1st floor is typically not noteworthy. Experiencing an earthquake on the 100th floor of a highrise will feel like the building is coming down. It requires so much more engineering to keep a building like that safe during an earthquake that any shaking will feel a lot more dramatic. Any glitch you see in Pokemon Red is either built into the game's foundation or will break the game. A single glitch in Pokemon Scarlet just causes visual stutter

Wow, perfect timing for the last bit of DLC to release. This is not only cool for the speedrunning community but also people that do the Professor Oak's Challenge in these games. Being able to use an exploit to get Rare Candy drops up the wazoo sounds perfect for attempting to do that challenge in speeds unfathomable before.

You can get stuck falling in various spots, so it's a softlock prevention. I've experimented a little on getting stuck on parts of some ruins, but it seems to warp me to the pokemon center.

Despite being a game changer of a glitch, it'll make the runs much less interesting now that there's no routing for rare candies. All you do is one glitch at the start of the game and you're set for the rest of the game

@@Razorshadow73 Right before GDQ happened I managed to find skips for Paradox Donphan, Orthworm Phase 2, and Arven but I haven't tried to run it. We dont have much for Victory Road, with Kofu being the only one that has a weird skip. Rika can be skipped however theres a down side, if you want to skip Rika you NEED to skip the rest of the elite 4 too. Sadly their triggers are a bit further than Rika's and I havent been able to find a good angle which enables it. Not to worry though cause Geeta can be skipped. Last we have Starfell Street, with no skips... Other than Penny's battle. All together combining every possible skip, its only 1/3rd that is skippable on any%. However, for The Way Home, none of the events or triggers can be skipped... Or at least they can, but doing so sends you back to the overworld which loses time. Honestly this was the point that made me give up on SV for a bit. Been trying to find a way to smuggle a timer of some kind into the PPP segment to maybe find a way, but nothing has come from it

While routing I'd use the Stage 2 Starters for Klawf Skip. The measurements would be different for Skeledirge, but it shouldnt be a problem to change for it. Thank you! Will take note of this in future runs :D
