My cousin just wrote a book in the MC 5 , I am embarrassed by this fact . These punks were nothing but a second rate garage bank . I saw them in the late 1960's , they stunk then and now.......

Jim Downey saw Grant's kid in the backstage area taking down signage that Graham needed for the next show. Jim said politely to please not do that and the limey bastard kicked the crap out of Jim. The next day Graham's crew were doubled and I believe some of the San Francisco Hell's Angels close to the scene made an impressive showing.☠

If they bottled the energy from the stage and the audience, they could power New York City for a day..

To bad war has to be America's greatest pastime....only music can change that. Think about it. That generation tried telling the World this is f#%$ed up! We shouldn't be going to Viet Nam, y'all should be here at Shea Stadium and we'll sing a little louder! A lot of people

That these guys are not in the R&R hall of fame is unbelievable. The hall should change its name if GFR isn’t good enough. Obviously they aren’t familiar with what Rock sounds like. This is what it sounds like.

Regretfully, I sold my vinyl copy of the album this song was on (Shapes of Venus) and it is literally impossible to find! However, I did snag the last copy in C.D format from an online music hawker Gray Whale Entertainment. 👌

This was a historic concert I'd be inclined to say. It is when the whole stadium idea of a "real" concert was realized for the first time. GFR will live in history as playing a huge part in what was to be, in time, the paradigm of a "event" rock show. As it's the norm for the biggest names still today this game-changing event has it's historical place in entertainment history as the true first "real" stadium show.

My Lord, these guys are beasts. The energy is out if this world. Mark is crazy good. And that drummer? Insane. I never saw them live but had their albums. Just not the same. The live experience is transcending.

Jimi only actually lit his guitar on fire three times...the last time was in late 1967, in Washington DC. No instances after that year!..But he DID often straddle his guitar towards the end of some concerts, and then smash it...but not much of that either, after 1967. He tired of the destructive part of his act.
@AugustMediaАй бұрын
Not sure why this show was a slight exception. The Police were giving him a hard time, perhaps that is why. I thought for years the watermelon story was a legend. Come to find out it was true.
@curbozerboomer1773Ай бұрын
Jimi is seen here, very briefly, sitting next to a blonde named Charlene Kazuisk (sp), a local groupie-type, who Jimi met at the earlier concert at the Dome...she and Jimi had the typical sex interaction when they met up...Apparently, Charlene hung out with bikers in the area, fell into alcohol and drug abuse, and died many years ago. Crazy, how many hot babes that Hendrix nailed, during his brief rise to fame.
