How long would you recommend to age before smoking one? Do you normally smoke one to see how it is and let them age after?

It all depends on your preference and that also changes with time because your palate changes over time so you're going to have to make that determination for your self Usually you try a few out then see how they are and then put them down and see how they develop if you're not satisfied

Looking forward to the belvedere review. I had an unaged cazador and thought it was terrible. Wish they didn't need to be so aged to taste good. The size is perfect.

I will always prefer the Dominican "exile" montecristos. I've had the Cuban ones overseas, they just aren't as good as the one that sparked my interest in cigars in the first place.

Dude, at 0:49 you can see the golden wrapper is wet and has a shine around it. Just let it dry box for a day or two and check the humidity on it (ideal range is 60-65%) to see if it is ready to be smoked.

A reply to the answer you gave… good morning. Now… smoking a cigar? That can be done anytime anywhere pretty much. But to assess the cigar ? That is a different story. If you proceed to light up such gem… be from the 1982 Era or before…a cedar strip could impart flavors that belong not on the assessment process… same as regular tap water… or any tap water because? It has to have chemistry in minerals for human consumption. If you use a torch with the lower quality butane no matter how triple distilled of a butane it is… flavors will get confused . Unwaxed cigar matches are best… long ones too. But why? The foot of the cigar has to be lit and warmed softly.. not torched into the red to be lit later… but just touched at the foot…. Looking for that hint of aroma to the nose so initially traceable… those are the true details of the cigar to be… that’s were you pick the notes. Talking about “The” assessment of a cigar … let alone this cigar you own- which is not a cigar it’s a privilege. You can smoke a cigar with anything… I have with a vintage Zippo on light up… Zippo Fluid and all that asbestos on the true Zippo Components- as they should. Same for Marlboro Reds…Blend No. 27 ect… because you wanted a smoke and that was that. But to do an assessment of a cigar of this class. You have to start from the packaging the cigar and how it was presented… then “The Tasting Notes” for they will change as you carry on smoking a cigar like that.. that should smoke like a cigarette… always. Although a Colorado Claro was not “The” color of the Lanceros we knew… that means not that yours are less… not at all. All that varied throughout the years also. These you are showcasing here are a very good rendering to that Era. The Cellophane Wrapper Detail gave it away… because Cohiba did experimented with that for their finest cigars at one time. That showcases detail and the alleged Era thus matching.. herein the Habanos SA. Versus the? Cubatabaco Era… different flavors and presentation… different management within the Land and new processing- specially when dealing with the larvae and bettle dilemma. Those were things and details of Eras with stamp-work that tells you… is it the real deal and how it’s going to perform. Under that Regime the struggle was huge… huge… I do believe that in time Habanos SA. - did saved it all for it was not going well prior. Habanos SA.- brought Europe to the table where Cuba had to come to terms and it paid of years later. Your cigars reflect that. You can yes here… smoke any cigar the way you want to… so can I…and cancel the hype so much behind it yes. But what you own is not hype… if you had the 1961 prototypes.. the 1964-67 selection the 1979 proposed export model… like yours- none of that is hype. It’s real and real from now here up to Sir. Alfred Dunhill of London where my studies came from. Bite not the “Pig-Tail” you are not Clint Eastwood he smoked cheap cigars. He did.

The House of Cohiba at El Laguito in the Miramar District in La Habana…as per a Cuban Cigar born from the Revolution which has utterly failed and failed the people… time and time again. For them it’s NOT like us or you here in America. It represents their ideology and pride of such to them….. the Cuban State Manufacturing Seal was always there … always… with beautiful detail…different inking process and tonality….size- but always there. The Cohiba Lancero as the Icon that it is… never a Colorado Claro Wrapper.. nope… but a more semi oily greenish tinted hue with very little interruptions on the surface… be protruded veins or bumps. The vein tracings always ran parallel and the Anillos … are always cut and presented even…. Talking about a Lancero of this class and presentation from back then ok? Where did you get this from??? I know Torcedores and Vegueros in Tampa Florida that can out do and Surpass this in 15 minutes flat. To no surprise for Tampa and La Habana are sisters in History that go back- Cohiba Lancero it’s a real match to craft in the factual historical level that it holds… and how it performs… to those women at El Laguito under that regime…. Unlike you- there is no time for joking. The Cohiba Lancero Prototypes seen with Fidel Castro and Che Guevara among others changed in time… and were never the same as what it was produced for diplomatic relations and international special orders also…the international market itself or exportation. But in their mindset represented their land and that revolution… so even at their worst Era… the quality was always present and genuine. Talking about The Cohiba Lancero nothing more.

This cigar was from Min Ron Nee's collection that's where it was from so the provenance is legit He was my friend, supporter of my channel and mentor to me before he died One of the ways the he supported my channel was to have me review cigars from his personal collection of which I am eternally grateful for Obviously you have your own process for smoking and enjoying a cigar and you seem to be quite knowledgeable about the history of Cuban culture as well If you would like to talk on my KZbin channel about various things related to cigars I would definitely welcome you to come on the show, so let me know via email so we can make arrangements to do so [email protected] Cheers

No matter what cigar is or where is from…. There is no need to place them under the faucet with running water… no matter how clean that water is. Try some class maybe? And good sense perhaps these days? A mist of quality distilled water will settle well. The clear wrapper in those Lanceros was well done… it will keep the cigar very well if the Cabinet Dress Box was kept properly before opened. A cigar of that class for assessment will require proper cigar matches… a bottle of fine quality drinking non carbonated water… unsalted crackers that are fresh. That is if you want to understand what a Cohiba Lancero really is…. Before you smoke the rest of them….this cigar it’s Iconic. Class is due.

As to your point about water I would have to agree to disagree That technique was taught to me by my good friend and mentor Min Ron Nee and I would think that he knew a little bit about cigars As far as lighting a cigar I would have to disagree with you there as well The reason people used matches back in the day was because the torch lighter hadn't been invented yet I my self have not perceived any difference in my smoking experience using matches or a lighter but that's my opinion and you are welcome to yours obviously As far as all the other accoutrement that you ascribe to ie. non carbonated water unsalted crackers etc. once again that is your opinion and you are welcome to it I have tried many methods while smoking a cigar and my method works for me Saying that something is the defacto be all and end all way to do something especially about cigars, is like saying that you and I have the same fingerprints which is impossible So understand the Lancero your way and I will understand the Lancero my way Cheers

Good cigars ,i often at times get same flavor profile as the Monte 4 cigar. These cigars don't have date stamp on the box because they are ready to smoke compared to the bigger brands that need age to smoke well.

I try to keep my toscana cigars in a storage humidity of 62%.. as they are a dry fire cured cigar they need no humidor or storage directly but keeping them in a humidor at around 60 to 65% humidity will help them age better and add just a touch of humidity to the dry cigar without making them too moist to smoke… changes the taste for a better more even flavor throughout and opens up natural tastes of the tobacco also allows the cigar to release the natural sweetness of the Kentucky Tobacco and fermented sugars in the cigar.. just always something that Iv done with my toscans before smoking them and it’s always been an enjoyable experience…

Opt for illuminating your Cuban cigar prior to cutting to enhance its flavor, minimizing excessive heat and averting any detrimental chimney effect on the filler's exquisite taste.
