This was one of the most basic AH games. Is a very simple tactical battle that is supposed to teach the mechanics of attacking at 3-1 odds or better and using soakoffs to cut down casualties and keep a positive attrition rate. None of the unit types really matter as the rules don't make any distinction between types and Hqs are superfluous. The key was saving your 1s 2s and 3s for soakoffs. Since the Allied player has 1s to soakoff and the French must use use 2s and 3s the attrition rate favors the allies. Against good defenders its not really practical that the French will actually exit units off the map so the game slightly favors the Allies. A fun game for a few play throughs and a good starting point and stepping stone to more complex games. Nice job guys.

Up Front, to this day remains one of the best games ever. I have had three copies over all my years, because friends keep "borrowing" my copies. The Asshats have my Italian expansions. I have yet to recoup that. Outdoor Survival is one of the WORST games ever, completely pointless and stupid. Even for nostalgias sake, just dreadful. No Civ? Surprising, but im not mad. One the other hand Republic of Rome absolutely deserves top ten credits. AH had a lot of games, and we all have our favorites( Stellar Conquest, Trireme, Titan, Kremlin, Rail Baron), but the vast majority were flawed to various degrees. So it's tough to form a non biased two ten, and one or two can be forgiven. I never played Bismarck, I'll have to hunt that one down.

@@LegendaryTacticsAlso (sorry, I'm commenting as I'm watching 😅) , but as soon as the orange player was inoperable, he should have been out of the game and shouldn't have been given another roll, and the lead board should have immediately had the finish line added to it. Also, even if he was still in the game, there isn't a new board added to the end until someone moves off the front of the lead board, not as soon as they land on it.

It’s good, I played it but found that there are few alternative paths possible in reality. It is quite framed within the historical events so you can’t really take Napoleon to an innovate scenario. Rather you tried to do the same things he did a bit better… good but for me there was a bit of a disappointment here
@LegendaryTactics2 күн бұрын
Thanks for your comment! The game certainly starts out narrowly, with not a lot of options, but that changes over the course of the game in my experience. At the same time, I think it makes sense to generally follow the history. It's a tough thing to balance.
@kevinkalomeni29542 күн бұрын
@@LegendaryTacticsit s true !i have to admit that I dream about a path that would lead Napoleon as king of Egypt or sultan of Ottoman Empire ^^ but there are no doubts about the quality of the product and the work done !

I made a game almost exactly like Tripples as a birthdate gift to my sister. Later I made it again as a computer game for a mobile game (before the smartphones) when working on the now defunct PocitLabs. The game was called Backmannon and I havd absolutely no idea about this game existing.

Business Strategy is a great game. 100% skill based with no randomness or hidden information. The advanced game adds company balance sheets and taxes. If you ever want to add factories to your rpg use the mechanics and numbers to base it of.

I know this video is older but hopefully someone is still checking! New-ish to brass and one thing I am struggling with is when none of the merchants in the bottom of the map (Oxford / Gloucester) are selling crates? If our goal is to use other player's links and everyone is playing around Birmingham, what do we do if what we're trying to sell is not there? Building mostly by yourself at the top of the map is obviously doable but won't allow much of using other players links. I am usually playing 3/4 player games. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The game that started it all for me was Blitzkrieg, and then Luftwaffe, and then Panzer Leader, Alexander, 1776, ....
@autocad32275 күн бұрын
To me, it started in 1977 when it came out with the Gettysburg game. The Avalon Hill General reported it was the lowest rated game ever. On their feedback. I bought it and thought it was just an absolutely horrible design. Then they started getting cheap With the map boards and they started warping, I just thought at the time, can't they do anything right? I will say this, back in the 1960s and '70s they kept me occupied. Me and my buddies all played war games. And when I got bored, I'd get Afrika Korps table and play solo. Fun times. Here I am at age 67 and I still play games with my buddies.

What a wonderful walk back through Memory Lane and young adulthood. Thanks so much for these interesting and provocative choices. I would say that "Waterloo" and "Jutland" were my two favorites as a youth. I'm guessing that had more to do with a fondness for all things European. I also have a memory of a game that involved the entire Russian Front where (as the Russian player) you just had to hang in there and not be overwhelmed at first. Does that ring a Teutonic/Slavic bell? at all with anyone? Finally, there was a game that was about the entire Air War Theater in WWII. Want to say it was called "Luftwaffe". Speaking of which, is the story true that AH tested the names and found that German words made a game move off the shelves faster than an English one?
