Aeons End and Thunderstone are also great deck builders.

Definitely should give Tyrants of the Underdark a try - my no. 1!

Nice list! This year is the 15th Anniversary of Ascension and we are going to be launching fun new items throughout the year to promote the game and bring all of our expansion back into print.

I love dudes on a map games, so Tyrants of the Underdark is my favorite deck-builder. I need to try out the Undaunted series, Dune is also on my radar.

Discovered the channel with Nato's video on his top Avalon Hill games, but nearly spit out my coffee when I first saw Cax. Unless I'm terribly mistaken we spent a lot of time together 20 years ago and I "borrowed" at least one of Cax's "very special HB number 2" pencils. From likely a former student, hope you're doing well and excited about the content on the channel!

So that's where it went!!!! I've been making due with HB #3's for 20 years now!!! 😀 I'm really glad your enjoying the content!! Cax aka Mr.K

a great list of deck building games. I'd add Heart of crown and Dale of Merchants.

the entire Legendary/Legendary Encounter series would probably be my favorite... I just love how they all immerse you in that IP... Dune Imperium, while an excellent game and one of my favorites, is always a tricky one... is it deck building or not... I kinda think of it as deck building adjacent, as typically you don't end up purchasing a whole lot of cards, and getting rid of cards is not the easiest thing to do in the game...
@LegendaryTacticsАй бұрын
Yes, agreed. As I said, I have always found Legendary Encounters to be very clever with simple mechanisms. And with Dune, you are *building* a deck, but you are not necessarily optimizing a deck, so it depends on your definition, I guess.

Nice video!!! The main difference between Shards of Infinity and Ascension is Shards of Infinity is a two player game (you attack the life of your opponent like Magic). In Ascension, you obtain honor from a limited pool as you mentioned, but this means it can be played with up to four people. I prefer Shards for two player games and Ascension for three to four player games. I was surprised Clank! did not make the top 10 (the game is also great for teaching deck building even though it is more than just deck building).

You should really try the Legendary Encounters Buffy one - it is similar to some of the others, but has a "light" and "dark" mechanic I do not think exists anywhere else in the "series"

I didn't know about that one! I'll check it out when I can!

Absolutely love the deck building component of Dune Imperium. It’s subtle but very significant. 😎

It is very cool, as is the rest of the game

Thanks for sharing your list. My favorites are these (with tiering): 1. Tyrants of the Underdark 2. GI Joe (3-handed solo) ‐---- 3. Quest for El Dorado 4. Dune Imperium (only played solo on the app) ----- 5. Star Wars 6. Alien Encounters 7. After the Virus

This kids, 15:45, is why you always roll a playmat with the top on the outside of the roll to avoid it looking like theirs does

There are so many good deck builders you can’t have only ten. I would add Hardback, Quest for El Dorado, Marvel Legendary, Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, Web of Spies, and Baseball Highlights at least.

web of spies? what is this game i'm not aware of it

What are your thoughts on the DC Deckbuilders? They never get mention in these top 10 deckbuilder list and wonder why...?
@LegendaryTacticsАй бұрын
We had wondered that in another video. I think Marvel has had such a stranglehold on pop culture in recent years, it was the one people went to first. We are actually looking to check out some more DC content this year, in fact.

Happy to see so many familiar titles on the list. But did i miss Clank and El Dorado? Besides, here's my unpopular opinion about Legendary Encounters Alien: it's overrated. And i'm saying this as a proud owner. The theme is very strong in this one, but the gameplay itself feels somewhat dull and meh, as the best strategy to win each mission is just to collect as much attack power as possible.

I do not agree with anything from this list 🤣🤣🤣 Where are the real good games like: Superhot the card game, Hero realms instead of star realms, After the virus, Ausonia, Warps edge Those are least on the top 5 for me Even Friday can be shuffled to this mix
@matthewpatrick5688Ай бұрын
As you noticed, After the Virus is on my list. It's a tough puzzle (for me), and I have yet to weave in its expansion. Thanks for mentioning Superhot. That intrigues me; I'll have to check it out.
