Light cars don't need tons of gearing. glides make sense for really light cars. Alternatively, you use a lockup converter on a glide and effectively get a three speed, but direct drive and lock up are much closer together

GTR is track based Hellcat platforms are straight line based. Anyone that knows what they are doing can build a car to beat another car in the race areas it is designed for.
