Question: Should I wait until I’m fat adapted before transitioning from keto to carnivore? I’m still not fat adapted but I’m trying to transition from keto to carnivore and I find it difficult to not eat some sweet fruit like berries once a day to give me a bit of energy. Is that because I’m still not fat adapted? After I eat berries my energy levels go back to normal otherwise I feel super sluggish. Maybe it’s keto flu and should wait until that’s gone before going carnivore?

So is the dawn effect of first morning glucose level caused by eating too much protein the day before? Or just from the amount you ate at dinner?
@doloresseames5067

So the suggestion of eating a gram of protein for every pound of your ideal weight is not correct? What if you are still hungry after 60 grams of protein? How can you test blood glucose after 4 hours, if you eat protein again before that? Do you test after every meal. Or after your last meal of the day, to calculate how much protein we need? That would mean during the night.

So how much potassium do you need to get from food? And how do we know how much potassium is in the meat that we are eating on a carnivore diet?

I’m trying to find something about staying hydrated on carnivore… can’t get a straight answer to save my life! I can’t hold any water in my body at all, even with plenty of salt all day. My skin is literally starting to shrivel and lips are severely chapped. It’s been a year now and I still can’t get an answer on KZbin except the opposite of what I search! I know I can’t be the only one who is affected by what I am calling the “Sahara effect”. Might change it to the “Death Valley effect” if it gets even worse.

Last time I did it i was time crunched.amd did it around 6pm after a day of "Friday eating " lol. I exercised the day before and we'll day of cause i stay active lol ,my numbers where okay. But, how serious should intake them , I'm planning on going next time fasted and keep going every month or 2 same trainer same time, statebect well I can't promise I'm not gonna be full rested. Lol But should I take these numbers. My goal getting down to 18 % ithen I want to do short bulk. .also I have a very hybrid training style if thay helps. I'm seem to be at a stand still on my body fat loss but I know being 38 and my life style ( little time for rest and sleep some reg stress and I understand hownhard it gets for someone with my numbers let alone with age sex factors

I have paid hundreds for iron infusion but it seems to last about a month. Keto worked for me fast 60lbs lost in 6 month. I stayed keto for 3 years and couldn't get any more weight off. I was still over 200lbs. Slowly began gaining weight no matter what I tried. Intermittent fasting, omad, extended fasting, more fat, less fat, more carbs, extremely low carbs, more calories, less calories. Nothing worked. I gave up for a long time. Now I'm 7 days carnivore . Hemoglobin is an 8 so I'm praying this helps and doesn't hurt . Today is extremely low energy fatigue...

Be careful about doing anything physical while your cortisol is high. Cortisol is a catabolic hormone, and the presence of cortisol in the body will breakdown muscle over fat to create glucose. Better to wait until the cortisol levels are down before doing anything physical.

It freaked me out. Omad and carnivore, losing weight slowly and I was getting up at 7 a.m and my blood glucose was 6.1 (UK). So I went for a 5 mile walk. Still 6.1. So I fasted for 24 hours. Still 6.1. 🤷🏻‍♂️ I thought I was becoming diabetic. So, I’m making my own glucose by gluconeogenesis! How adaptable is the human body.😊

It’s hard to believe that govts don’t know these oils are toxic. Of course they do. It’s profit over people. And we the people should be getting fed up with this abuse and lack of representation from our govts. These oils should have never been on the market. And now they should be banned asap.

There is plenty of pure hedonic response to pepperoni, salami, bacon, cheese, olives, pickles, hot sauce (especially on wings). Anything highly palatable or with a combination of fat and salt lights up my brain just as much as sugar did.

I am a Carnivore and through the process of elimination, I have identified that too much protein raised my blood glucose to type 2 diabetic levels so tracking is very important as you raise your protein levels. All other metabolic issues are optimal for me except when I eat over 100g of protein throughout the day, I will get high normal blood glucose levels (chronically), and over 120g a day, it goes into pre-diabetic and type 2 diabetic levels. Unfortunately, it took me over a year to figure this out because all the low-carb carb so-called experts say protein won't negatively affect your glucose levels, except that it does. My only advice is to track your macros, get a glucometer, or even better a CGM, and test your labs (specifically A1C, trigs, HDL, and insulin) every 3 - 6 months. If you Carnivore or low carb, and can't get your glucose (fasting under 100) and normal levels to the 75 to 85 range, lower your protein intake. It may take months to get to the point where you become fat-adaptive and insulin-sensitive so be patient. Just please don't listen, and buy into the idea, that protein won't cause harm in excessive levels. Also, eating until you are satiated does not apply to everyone. High levels of glucose are mainly a long-term damage factor so don't freak out, restrict to hardcore Carnivore, then raise and lower macros and experiment with ratios until you find that sweet spot. Everyone will have different results, so don't blindly trust, "Eat until you are comfortably stuffed", this is garbage advice. Also, resistance training, even if that is basic body push and pull exercises at least three times a week. You don't need expensive equipment or a gym membership.

I agree, that my blood sugars are too high on higher protein. I can't get them down unless my protein is around 100g per day or less. And I'm too hungry at that level. If I increase fat, I gain belly fat within days! if I increase carbs, addictions are activated and I start binging. I don't know what to do. When I lose ketosis, I am extremely hungry. It really makes me mad that the "experts" say protein won't raise your blood sugar. There are untold numbers of people who know that it DOES, but we feel dismissed.

@@ellek6505 Yep, I get it. I think it's important to understand, these are not really experts. Most of them, especially those with a DR in front of their name I think are just trying to capitalize on social media. Most of what they think they know they don't, it is mostly based on anecdotal and theory and they fill in the blanks. They have to sound authoritative cause that is how they are trained even though most know just as much as we do or less in some cases. Check out Dr Cywes, I am not saying he can help but he has videos out there that do at least acknowledge the issue unline most of the big names in this space.

Every time i listen to Sally, i pick something new up. I have her book, and refer to it often. Still cleaning up after years of vegetarian eating. Many many classic oxylate isues, but i came to say, back in the day, besides the huge kidney stone i was packing, they would tell me i had UTI. I took antibiotics the first couple times, probably making things worse by killing off what little oxylabactor i might have had. But i started resisting the abx telling my Dr that i had no symptoms. She finally said, well then dont bother taking the abx. All doctors knew about the giant kidney stone, but never offered to remove it (i was eventually told i *could* be referred to someone if i wanted, but no real push). I was also never told about oxylates, or anything about diet. Doctors really really need to be educated, and PAY ATTENTION, to the symptoms and issues caused by oxylate overload. So many folks suffering needlessly.

I heard a lot of different information from Dr.Berry that I've not heard in other podcasts, so I thank you for asking great questions, KetogenicGirl!! But I have to disagree with Dr. Berry on his comment about why adult humans shouldn't drink milk or eat dairy. First of all, we are the only creatures on this earth created in the image of God. God imparted us with an intelligence that surpasses animals. Our ability to reason, process information, and create sets us wide apart. I see nothing wrong with dairy, and the very fact that you can set raw milk aside and it ferments to this wonderful concoction called yogurt and cheese is a blessing from God. There is nothing more natural than raising animals and utilizing the benefits they have to offer. Milking cows for the purpose of yogurt and cheese IS a God thing, it was his intention all along. Just like raising Chickens to eat their eggs is a God- thing. This just didn't happen in primordial soup trillions of years ago, nothing can't create something. God gave us all of these wonderful things, so forget all of the extremism and eat what makes you feel your healthiest and look your best. He assumes that the reason that we all can't consume dairy without health issues is the fault of the dairy. I think it's more complex than that. I think vaccines play a huge part in food allergies, as well as toxins in our environment and foods. Also, I was unable to eat meat or dairy as long as I was eating vegetables. I didn't realize that vegetables and grains made me have nausea and digestive upsets, so that meats were unpalatable and dairy undigestible. Now that I've dropped all vegetables from my diet, I am able to consume dairy with the exception of milk. I have become much healthier, eating eggs, butter, beef, bacon, hard cheeses and in the evening I eat a big bowl of greek whole fat yogurt topped with a handful of blueberries, a tablespoon of chocolate chips and heavy cream poured over the top. So far I'm still losing weight, toning up, gaining more energy, and growing my hair back in my original hair color when I was younger. So it really is up to the individual and what works for their body.

I just had the Conversation with my Mom about the Ethics etc standpoint concerning eating Meat. She tripped out when I told her that if she puts a cut Onion under a Microscope you can see the cells panicking etc. Lol. I also always tell people it's the Circle of Life. A lot of these Animals wouldn't be Born if they weren't consumed. But yeah, as a now Keto Carnivore for 7 Years, and once Vegetarian for 13 Years, I feel my best consuming Animal Protein. I do also hear people telling me that Vegan and Vegetarian are still healthiest. I'm a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach, and a Certified Personal Trainer, by the National Academy of Sports Medicine, and I still get so much pushback from those stuck in the thinking along the same lines as the Government's Dietary Guidelines. Sad truly.

I find the equation is completely altered when one is ketogenic, eating pasture-raised animal foods, prioritizing fat (but avoiding seed oils), salting to taste (e.g., Redmond's), ensuring taurine levels, using Quinton minerals, and drinking deuterium-depleted water. Then thirst and hydration means something entirely different, as one is more highly producing metabolic water and the body becomes better at maintaining mineral balance, along with one feeling better from improved mitochondrial functioning.

At 50:08 you talk about having tea and baking soda. I have heard that tea helps with oxalate dumping because you are putting oxalates back into your body but never baking soda. Is baking soda similar to calcium in a binder for oxalates then? Great interview!!! I was poisoned by ciprofloxacin and have had major oxalate issues ever since among other issues. About two years ago now. Have a 1 on 1 with Dr. Norton in about a week. I look forward to speaking with her.
