Funny thing, we live two hours from the nearest bahn mi place so we’d buy in bulk (like 20) and reheat them in the toaster in the oven just like your mom. It took a little bit for me to realize it’s much more the same when you take out the veggies as when you originally bought them. The other key is to airtight as much as possible the plastic bag so the bahn mi are sort of in a time capsule for over a few days.

Grew up riding amtrak. Yes sometimes it's less than ideal with the wifi. Or the delays. But from city to city it's a great way to travel and yes the scenery is great

@youknowyouwilldespisethis71183 ай бұрын
The first one is jambu and there are two types of jambu... This one is the crunchy on the outside but a bit soft on the inside, doesn't contain a lot of water. Another version is super crunchy in and out and watery. The third fruit reminds me of Indian jujube/apple. I have that, it's really crunchy.

Banh mi in Vietnam has evolved over the decades and now there's hundreds of varieties of them. We're just used to the classics that's become popular outside Vietnam.

In Korea.. eat Korean style. In New England... eat local style (butter or mayo with light spices). Lobster flavor is hidden by strong flavors of wasabi., Siracha, teriyaki. Kind of like adding steak sauce to Wagyu A5 or ketchup to sushi.

I haven't taken Amtrak, but I can't afford to travel in general. I've only done so when larger groups have organized trips, and they've always been by bus. That'll change this week! I'm riding 2.5 hours out on Amtrak and will get to cross that off my bucket list!

Have done so on the West Coast and taken an overnight train from Oregon to southern California. As you’ve described is pretty standard it depends what cars have been upgraded and what ones have been left to decay. I do appreciate the relaxation comfort and space given to the rides and freedom for packing. I truly hope we can pick up some more international tips to provide better train services for the ones we have as well!

It's def much more relaxing traveling by Amtrak as opposed to the rat race of flying commercial in America. Everything airport related is super expensive and oftentimes a logistical hastle. Traveling by plane these days means being completely at the mercy of the commercial carriers and however they feel like treating you. Specific laws have even been written making it a federal offense to sass or ignore a flight attendant. Those folks have serious authority they aren't afraid to use. They can and will will throw you off of their airplane at the drop of a hat, with the full backing of TSA. On a recent commercial flight, I had a female flight attendant yell at me for standing up near the bathrooms for too long. I had a cramp in my leg and was standing up to stretch it out a bit. But this nasty flight attendant wasn't having it and ordered me to sit back down. She was so rude and cranky. She was on such a power trip, and there was nothing I could do.

A lot of these problems are a result of 3 main factors Old aging equipment some that are almost 50 years old at this point. Terrible track conditions, some of Amtrak’s tracks haven’t been upgraded or replaced since the late 1800s. And the freight railroads. Railways like Norfolk Southern and CSX often block Amtrak trains as Amtrak doesn’t own all the tracks it runs on. Hope this helps!

It's Amtrak, government run, so expect delays, rude employees, high prices and inferior quality. Sad the private sector was crushed by government regulations.
@darthmaul2166 ай бұрын
The delays are because of freight companies and the employees aren’t rude in my experience, and the prices are based on demand, just like the private sector
