7 flights in a day? That's fantastic. I'd be a lot more inclined to fly in an operation like this if I knew I could fly that much. I ended up switching over to rotary, but to do aerial cinematography for movies. Who knows where it'll lead.

Question. What’s the ammeter and switch for next to the ESIS and RTU? Usually all the electrical is on the overhead panel.
@capt_dan
@capt_dan 6 жыл бұрын
Bartonovich52 its for a ground use battery. We use it like a mini APU to run the patient loading system whilst on the ground. The switch is on, off and charge which would be set to charge in flight. 😊

Oh. Interesting. We don’t have anything like that. The equipment the medics use run on their own internal batteries until aircraft power and inverters are fired up.

Oh.. and we don’t have a patient loading system, or a cargo door for that matter. I was surprised about that when I started this job, but so far it seems to work well.

Callum Clausen hi Callum! Thanks for your message and good luck with all of your A-Levels. I was a very average student at school, I did English and Physics and got an overall C grade. I would never say don’t work hard at it but I found it made no difference in progressing through aviation. Aviation is about having the right attitude and dedication towards it.. and a bit of cash of course to pay for the flying lessons..

What a great film. Thank you so much. You all do such an incredible job and I am glad to know there are people out there doing this work. Many years ago, in a previous life, I worked as Fire Crew and Ground Crew at Fairoaks Airport in Surrey and GAMA had a base there. I guess that was the early days for the company..? Loved every minute of it! All the best to you all and safe flying.

Daniel, it's a team job, everybody is as important as each other. As a flight nurse for a UK company, we like you all work together for the patient. I go by the adage of we, when possible, look after the pilots in the air, make the tea etc, and on the ground when we are away overnight the pilots look after us. In nursing it's a little known job, but there are few who have the confidence or ability to do it, totally different from working in a hospital or community. For the pilots i suspect it's such a different job to the normal aviation jobs, no two days ever the same.

Absolutely amazing! So inspiring for myself! Air Ambulance is one of my career goals, I'm currently training a CAE Oxford at the moment. Would you be able to share any tips, recommendations, career progression on how I too could end up in such a role? Thanks!
@capt_dan
@capt_dan 7 жыл бұрын
Matthew Webster thank you mate for your comments, glad you enjoyed watching it! I did the Oxford route for my ATPL's then went to CTC for all the practical. My biggest regret is not making contacts earlier. This type of flying is all about who you know, I make a lot of contacts through Instagram to be honest which has been the biggest success so far for career progression. LinkedIn is also worth spending a lot of time on! For me, this was the perfect first job, feels like you make a difference to peoples lives as well which is a bonus. The King Air is a lot of fun to fly, a great hands on machine with all the automatics you need should you want them. Gama are often looking for crew and its definitely worth keeping an eye on the website for upcoming positions here in Scotland. Make as many contacts as you can and before you know it, you'll be up here joining us! Good luck with the rest of your training.. the hard bit starts when you finish all of that!

I'd love to ask a few more questions! Cheers
