If you have a power supply with a "sag" outlet, put this on it. I run the Joyo Voodoo Octave on 5V and it sounds like a totally different pedal. I'm pretty sure if you power the pedal with the micro-usb port on the side it uses an internal voltage step-up to reach 9V so you can't do it that way, you have to manually reduce the voltage being sent from the power supply. It has the same effect as a bias knob starving transistors of voltage and results in gated, spitting, sputtering fuzz that crackles and cuts out like it's broken i.e. the best kind of fuzz.

The must have with any rig is modulation. Wether it's Fuzz Distortion Overdrive or Clean tones the masters from the previous year's all used modulation with gain pedals or cranked amps ❤

I imagine it works just like most tube screamer and will tighten up the bass end and put a bit of a boost in the mid. Only add the gain if absolutely necessary though, as that will make things get a bit more loose

Thanks for this interesting comparison.I AB'd them too. I like the TC better for clean, probably because of the oustanding CAB sim. It is much more clear. With the other Joyo's ; 'American Sound' and the 'Acetone', the difference in clarity compared to the digital amp sims is not so big as with the ''British sound compared to the JCM800. With the '''British sound the "cab simulation eq" is more nasal for the cleans. I am a big fan of those Truetone Harley Bentons/Joyo's. They all sound better to me with dirt then all the most recent digital amp sims I tried. And for the price... This JCM800 is a much fun to play and still okay pricewise. I really like it. Kind of an underdog ampsim for cleans.

@@mspr100 yeah, the joyo ones have a kind of pleasant compressed quality to them that sounds better driven. I think there is definitely space in the market for both, but the joyo are incredible value for money too.

Have just bought one , I got the Mooer GE300lite a month ago and found little to fault for AUD 1,050.. I have found the Matribox to be surprisingly good with a similar simple interface such as moving effects . I thought they could have added a on/ off switch and I have found the headroom on some pre sets was lacking a little as well as sound quality. That said for AUD 260 (a quarter of the price of the Mooer) it has to be the best quality board at this price point and an excellent entry level product. Like so many some fiddling is required to achieve a realistic sound but I would highlight the pre-set 03 B 60's OD , just push the gain to 100% . Do not alter anything else. Play the 4th string 7th fret and then the 6th string 5th fret and see if you can guess the song. While not exact sound, it is pretty damn good from a budget modeller and a good example. (The guy that wrote the song went back to the studio but could not re-create the sound on his modded tele).
@BudgetPedalChap6 күн бұрын
I've not had a chance to try the Mooer, but it's nice to know that the Matribox holds it's own against it and for less money. They recently released the pro, which adds an on/off switch and has some amazing switching options too. I've been very impressed with the Matribox stuff, I must say 👍
