I like this stove & cook set too. Agree with you on the Coghlan's fuel tabs, a lot more affordable. Thank you for sharing 👍

I commend you on spending meaningful time with your kids BY now that are probably all grown-up! Current price of the Walmart Grease Pot is $6.97. I use various sizes with handles removed to make a lightweight "nesting " pot set. Thanks for sharing. May God bless you, sir.

Guys someone LIED to you. We as American Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen never used that little extra heating part. That is from another military’s set up. If we’re true them would have issued that while I was still in the military. I did my research and found it to be a foreign military’s heating system not American. So don’t believe stuff people are trying to peddle on KZbin. I’m sorry sir but someone lied to you. That extra heating system was never used by us. SEMPER FI

Be sure to have your fuel below the top holes in order for it to burn correctly and cleanly. Way less smoke.

I imagine the condensation would make this more wet inside than sleeping in the rain . Best get something breathable

Unnecessary just use sterno dumb dumb just use sterno. Why using other stupid shit why are you poking holes in the thing you don’t need to do any of those things just do whatever they designed it to do. Don’t expect it to do your income tax and create some kind of cure for cancer it is what it is. Stop making out to be some kind of bumble fuck stove, use it for what they advertise it for to do. Do you understand English?

In 2007 my borrowed tent leaked badly after the first rain. This was 3 weeks into a California to Kansas bike ride. The next day I rode by a Walmart and decided to check their tents. Being on a budget I bought the tent you tested for $20.00 and some seam sealer. At the next camp, I seam sealed it and filled it with gear. It was a bit short but I angled myself a bit and had a good night's sleep. My next camp a big windy storm came though. The tent held up well, I slept well, but some water blew under the fly. I had to lay out my gear for about an hour before packing in the morning. For the next 3 weeks the tent did well. One drawback is that on cooler nights It did get some condensation which dripped onto my sleeping bag. I would rate this tent a 3.5 out of 5.

I got my stove and cup nested. They are aluminum. I needed to play with it and force it down and up repeatedly and got it working. I scratched my canteen nesting it wrong but now it's good. I want to pick up the lid soon

I buy my eggs from a neighbor who has chickens. I ask for UNwashed eggs that I can take camping and she give me a dozen with an elastic band to not that these are the freshest and unwashed eggs for camping. Thus, they last an entire trip. I like the Knorr (with ghee and dehydrated milk) but am tired of rice.

I bought the same thing from Amazon. My cup and lid and stove all fit together perfectly. The only thing that is a tight fit is the rothco mollie canteen pouch. All that stuff is made in china so 🤷♂

Thank you. I bought the precise materials last night at Home Despot. Cost 43 bucks with tax. However I have to scale back the lengths a bit. 14"x8"=112 in. Then 2x4"=120" total.

The handle is different than a ww2 canteen kit. Not much but different. Mine from 1945 has a flat handle on top. All I need is a lid and stove. The ww2 canteen kit came with pouch cup and jug.

Don't really understand why you needed to modify your stove. I did a video on my other channel about 9 to 10 years ago, and was able to utilize it for both wood and alcohol using a Trangia alcohol stove, and never changed a single item on the stove. As a matter of fact, I have a double burner STERNO stove, and it works fine like it is as well. Got to hand it to you on the cooking surface though. Definitely will allow better air flow. Good video. Gave you a thumbs up on it.

I don't care for the wire handle as they tend to get hot as they are too close to the fire. I prefer the older longer flat handle that also holds the set together. I do like the wire tent stake mod for stability.

I got a $200 4 cabin tent on closeout clearance for $50. I chose the tent I wanted and then just started searching eBay, Google, and Amazon then I found it at Walmart online. Being a new tent I'm going to seam-seal it anyway. I don't have to buy anything I found an unopened tube of 100% silicone clear Aquarium sealant in my junk. I'll use it for seam sealing. I'll be looking for some Tyvek for a DIY groundsheet next. I got a colorful sandproof beach blanket for inside so when I pack up it will make it easier to clean up the sand, mud, and stickers inside and shake it off outside. Actually, I'm working instead of camping the tent keeps my work dry. Less expensive DIY is really cool because the saved money can be used for other upgrades, my upgrade is a piece of camo net, I throw that on top in the summer to keep my stuff cool and the wind blows through it. When the tent gets destroyed most of the other brands of cabin tents have close to the same footprints. I can use the same stuff I made and bought like the groundsheet with other brands of tents.

Maybe I'll find a $400 tent on closeout or clearance for $100 next time. I found my tent in the least expected search engine to find it. I really did buy a cheap Walmart tent but not the same brand that is sold in the box store. Walmart website search LOL!

Unfortunately, most water infiltration is from the whole tent material. If you place something touching the inside of the tent, it will "pull" water into the tent. Need to water proof the whole tent.

I know this is an older video, but I just stumbled on it. Your homemade bivy from tarp material... is that breathable? It seems like it would be ridiculously hot and create a lot of condensation. Did you do a follow-up vid on it? Just really curious.
