Do you happen to remember where you got the 120 degree coupler for the rail?

@BorodenTV Жыл бұрын
I no longer have this boat. I live near saltwater now. That sea hunt was a great little package. Perfect for the Texas lakes and nearshore if you live near salt water. It didn’t have any interior lights, so I added those limitec bar lights. Loved that boat.

When you owned this boat, were you storing it uncovered in your backyard? I just bought a 2010 Sea Hunt 186 Escape LE. I storing it in a space under a shed that I rent now. I may decide to ultimately store it at my home.

I have the same boat/motor and I am planning to add a Minn Kota terrera trolling motor soon. I need to know the shaft length. It looks like 60 inches from your video. Does that sound right? I'm so glad you made this video as it's the first I've seen detailing a trolling motor on an Escape 200. I currently am using a 24 volt transom mount trolling motor but it leaves much to be desired. I put the batteries in the port console after reinforcing the floor with some 1/2 inch polyethelene plate and that works very well.
@BorodenTV3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is 60 inches. Longer is always better to get a good bite in the water, but this always worked well for me. It would have to get pretty rough.
@georgegreenwood74823 жыл бұрын
@@BorodenTV Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming your forward fishbox is insulated, mine is not. I tried putting some ice in there one time and it melted within 2 hours. It is holding an 18 pound Boyles anchor now. I will insulate it with polyurethane foam when the trolling motor is installed. I fish Galveston Bay and the Boyles is great around all the gas well shell pads we fish.
@BorodenTV3 жыл бұрын
@@georgegreenwood7482 I don’t know if it is insulated. I no longer own the boat. It did the job for me in Texas on the lakes. I am in FL now with a 27 ft Grady white

Well Sir I must say that this escape 200 is rockin! You have done a great job on her, I am looking for a 200 dc 99-05 myself and will aspire to have her looking this good! Your electronics are sweet, no anchor use for the trolling motors capability is the way to fish. I'm near Conroe and like to fish for crappie, hybrids, catfish as well. Can't wait to find one, hopefully I can borrow some of your tips and upgrades when she comes home? Thanks for sharing this with us all! J.D. Also post some videos of you fishin with her sometime, would like to see it in action! Thanks

The limit on lake Texoma is 10 per person with 2 of the 10 limit can be over 20 inches. I caught 4 overs, myself and one other guy. We also caught our limit of 20 with 4 over 20 inches and 16 fish under 20. We released many overs. Not lying!

Hi there, I'm new to fishing for Crappie and have some more questions if you don't mind :) We recently moved to North Texas and have a private lake that is filled with Crappie (as well as Bass, several types of Catfish, Blue Gill, and Carp-to control vegetation overgrowth). The lake is 22 acres big, so it's a small one, and about 16 feet at it's deepest. But because it's private, it's not fished very much and has a lot of life in it. (It was stocked way back in the 1960s when it was still considered a soil preservation lake and owned by the govt. They then sold it to private owners and it hasn't been stocked since. Everything in it is naturally placed (except the carp, our neighbor did that 10 years ago to cut down on the aquatic plants) My questions are these: Will Crappie bite during the winter months or is it pointless to even try because of the cold temps? Because of the lake not being deep, where would the Crappie naturally be drawn to? I had thought they would be more along the shoreline among the vegetation and fallen logs, etc, but the water level along the shore is only 3-5 feet deep (or less depending on the time of year). And last, because the water depth isn't very deep, will our boat/us scare them away before we can even put the lines in the water? (how the heck does one jig in 5 feet of water without them knowing you are there???) What would be the best way to do it? I'm about 45 minutes north of Lake Lavon, about 10 minutes west of Bonham, if you are ever up here and want to fish without restrictions (and give me and my husband some pointers lol) The bass fishing is amazing but I'd like to try my hand with the Crappie :) Thanks!
@texasfishingonline6 жыл бұрын
The fish will be in the deepest part this time of year. Jigs will work, but you must move them slow knowing you are on the fish. 8bprefer minnows in winter. You should mark them first. They maybe relating to some structure deep, brush pile, rock pile, logs, but they will be on the bottom. In my experience they do not spook easily. When they move shallow in the spring, you can use long poles with a jig. Or pop a jig under a cork past stumps and things like that.

Probably the best way I've seen yet to clean crappie but why why why do people insist on tossing their skinned fillet into the gunk and slime on the cleaning board? Why not put it onto a clean paper or china plate? Regardless, thanks for the video.

Good point. I rinse my fillets after, but I am more careful about it now. I keep a bowl next to me for the fillets

I find this useful not only for crappie fishing but for fishing for panfish. Being that I live in South Florida, freshwater panfish can include sunfish, bluegill, Mayan cichlids, tilapia, and Oscars. I started using jigs for fishing, and not surprisingly I jigged the jig crazily up and down, like you said about many jig beginners. I've also put my jig on a swivel. I have a couple of questions to ask you. I do not have a boat, so I fish from shore. I know that like you said, location location location is very important. I know that thick vegetation along the shoreline holds a lot of fish. But even when I cast there, I still got nothing. South Florida is full of urban canals. How do I find the "right" location if I don't have a boat?
@texasfishingonline6 жыл бұрын
Darius Villa You've got to look for tunings that stand out. Like on lakes the fish maybe only on certain trees in a particular depth. Trial and error can be time consuming, but if you catch a fish, see what stands out. Current, point, particular structure, quick access to deep water like a drop off. Also, do you have a kayak?
@texasfishingonline6 жыл бұрын
Things not tunings, sorry
@dariusvilla56806 жыл бұрын
texasfishingonline I don't have a kayak right now, but I am investing in an inflatable kayak that costs $200. Also, I just got my iBobber, which is a castable fish finder. I find it quite useful in finding fish. I forgot to mention that some canals in SoFla pass through small lakes.
@dariusvilla56806 жыл бұрын
texasfishingonline Do bridges count as something that sticks out? I'm figuring since that gives fish shade during hot summer days. About the iBobber, it wasn't as good as I expected, so I returned it.
@texasfishingonline6 жыл бұрын
Darius Villa bridges are very good structure for fishing. The key is depth depending on the time of year. Try different pillars and start from the top down. Letting out line until you get a bite.

This is off the subject of your video but, I was in the landscape business for twenty years in Nashville and I just got to where I would never recommend a Bradford Pear tree to anyone. They truly are junk trees. They are weak, will almost always split within a very short time after planting - like within a couple of seasons. So, I feel your pain on that tree there.
