Personally I couldn't be bothered to attach all that crap to my bicycle for a ride and then take it off again to charge it!! Need to change the description and not include "bicycle-lights" cause people are pretty much gonna take this for real and ask themselves, is there a quick release button lol. but seriously mate, that is one heck of a brighter than bright light!!!

Very nice, how much did all the components cost together?
@oritortie
@oritortie 9 жыл бұрын
The LED-components (Osram Oslon SSL80 (7 leds per board) on 35mm PCB and Polymer spot optic for this LED PCB) are about 200 Euro at LED-Tech.de For the electronic components you can calculate about 50 Euro, for the batterys (12 x Panasonic 18650 with 3,4 Ah - measured 3,35 Ah) with PCB (4s 12A type) about 80 Euro.

Would it not have been more economical to buy a single 100w led. I am rigging up something portable with that just now and it should total less than £100.

When you want to have a good spot you can not use the COB-LEDs. For a flood the COBs are much better and more efficient (I build up indoor lamps with Bridgelux VERO 29, a very good LED but not really possible to Focus in a small spot with a handy optic)! The main aspect of this lamp was to get a very far reach of the spot. In past I build up the 500W LED lamp with the same optics and Cree XM-L Leds but although you have more than quad light Output the reach is lower. The Problem is that you need LEDs with a very small chip and a high light Output to build compact lamps with a good reach. Of course I thought about all the different LEDs (Cree XHP etc.) but the Osram Oslon SSL80 (only 80 degrees primary optic also is a reason for using this LED in spot-optics) was the best way to get a very bright spot in a compact size. (With LEDs, my HIDs are brighter of course but they have many other disadvantages like run up time and complex electronic).

I never considered about making a spot light. Once I have it all hooked up I think it will look something like this i218.photobucket.com/albums/cc28/g_card/LEDs/8b9448d4-78ae-408b-b339-5f42e11d411b_zpsb1b8571e.jpg For my own project anything from about 45-90 degrees will be ok. I suppose we have different needs so it makes sense we are using different emitters, I was just rather shocked at the price of your own.

HID draws a lot power only when arc starts. Power draw after start is quite low. Really efficient source of light.

People say s*** about 0-60 videos done on public roads (while still being within the speed limit) but here you can blind someone in the middle of the woods and they won't be able to find their way back. You will also blind certain types of wildlife and they end up wandering on to highway traffic. Nice job (sarcasm).
