The skill of these musicians, especially Alana, is exceptional, as is the sound engineering! And Vivaldi, well, the Italian Bach, never disappoints.

Always amazes me about classical music. If the violinist places his finger one inch off place, plays his bow a few degrees off pitch, has his strings dull or loose, if the violin were different in volume by any measure, it would sound so different. This specific combination of all those factors come together to create something truly beautiful.

His technique and interpretation is good, but he rushes at every. single. entrance. It's very clear he and the orchestra spent little to no time rehearsing with each other before the recording.

@@etwitree3359 In the first movement, for example, his 8th note scales are rushed in the middle. It can first be heard at 0:49 and again about 10 second later when he repeats it. Any phrase where he does something like that he goes a hair too fast for a few notes before returning to the orchestra's tempo.

It was a short-lived fashion to write music "in style of <older composer>" and then put that composers name on the piece. Henri Casadesus did exactly that. Which later has resulted in many thinking his music is fake, and doesn't deserve to be played or even mentioned. (At least among musicians I have met). But if we look beyond the name Casadesus put on his work, and think of it as a work of Casadesus I think they are worth a little attention. So I am glad to find this on KZbin. Maybe the taboo will go away!

I quickly came to the conclusion that Cassadesus was referring to PDQ Bach and was composing in his style. I stopped studying it before I had mastered the piece. This performance shows I probably made a mistake.

I first heard this extraordinary composition and music in 1973, on the "extra" side of Mozart's 'Eine Kleine Nach Music', which I had fallen in love with at an outdoor concert that summer in rural Vermont. Yet, this Tchaikovsky is the piece that knocked my socks off and gained my admiration in a much larger, deeper way. MASH TV fans may recall that this is what Winchester plays for his tent mates, saying something akin to "This is perhaps the finest piece of music ever written." The composer himself was far more connected to and pleased with it than his far more popularly known '1812 Overture'.

Hello and thank you for your attentive listening! In Rachmaninoff's score, there is no notation of a timpani beat on the last note of the 1st movement. I don’t care about the fact that this piece is not by JC Bach, I simply just love this piece! Henri Casadesus did a great job recreating and presenting the old style to the people of 20th century! While added more repertoires for the viola! He SHOULD NOT be called a fraudster of the classical music world, he is a gifted composer and a virtuoso!

@@thefisherking78 yes it was fraud. The casadesus brothers published it as a newly found bach piece but it turns out they wrote it. Its great work and still an important part of viola repertoire just overshadowed by a pretty big lie in the music world. It goes to show, however, how people will call something a masterpiece if it has an important name attached to it like Jackson Pollock and others who the CIA funded during the cold war.

@@miguelmarquez4192 This is not a scam. Many 20th-century composers who wrote in a classical or romantic style had to use other people's names to avoid being bullied by music critics. And only after their composition became widely known, the musical community became aware of their authorship.
