So I picked up this track saw but the sole plate isn't 100% flat. Does your einhell track saw rock when placed on a flat surface?
@Renovation-Dan6 күн бұрын
It should defintely be flat or it will rock on the tracks which will lead to the cuts not being square but could also probably cause kickback. I would take it or send it back. It could have been out of the factory like that or damaged in transit.

The cord was stuck and would not switch on or off. I thought I'd need to buy a new switch, but followed your instructions, took it apart, and when I loosened the screws holding the spring, I heard it "click." That was enough to fix it. Thanks for the video! 🙂👍

What size pre drill steel bit did you use and what size screws did you use mate? Starting my IBC ICE bath build Friday 👍🏼 Great video mate !
@Renovation-Dan9 күн бұрын
I’m not sure what size drill bits I used. I vaguely remember breaking a few smaller ones, I’d guess they were maybe 1.5mm but could get away with using slightly bigger to avoid breaking them. I think I drilled then made the holes bigger with a larger bit afterward. I’m also unsure what screws I used, but you just want screws long enough to go through the steel and into the battens without going all the way through both. Apologies for my vague recollections, it’s been a few years since I built it!

I think I would have taken down the plasterboards then insulated between rafters then overboard with our then plasterboard. Reduces weight and improves performance
@Renovation-Dan14 күн бұрын
There aren't any plasterboards, the ceiling is the original Victorian ceiling which is lath and plaster. To remove the lath and plaster ceiling would have been quite a big job and extremely messy. The reason I used the adhesive foam as well as some extra screws it to make sure the boards are well supported and don't risk pulling plaster off. It's also why I used the thinner (and lighter plasterboards).
@fishgeek14 күн бұрын
How did you manage to hit the wood with screws you must have it every where !
@Renovation-Dan14 күн бұрын
The ceiling is lath and plaster. If you aren't familiar with lath and plaster... it's a traditional technique where lots of thin strips of wood (laths) are nailed onto the joists and then they are covered with plaster. So basically it is luck of the draw wether you hit a lath or one of the small gaps between the laths.

Great video. Recently bought one of these Einhell saws and brand new out of the box, could not remove the saw blade. The bolt was completely seized from the factory. I knew that it had a reverse thread so it wasn't just that I was turning it the wrong direction. Reading down the comments, I see that this is a recurring fault with this saw but I'm hoping I can get a fully working replacement, not least because I already went ahead and bought the Einhell track from a different supplier, which I'm going to be hard pressed to return.
@Renovation-Dan18 күн бұрын
I don’t know if they’ve maybe changed the manufacturing on them because there have been a few people with the same problem. I’ve had mine nearly 2 years now, so I dont know if I have a previous design or iteration.
@Euanr9811 күн бұрын
@@BoscoRetro I’m on my third replacement now for the same issues, hopefully this one will loosen so I can put a new blade on
@BoscoRetro9 күн бұрын
I contacted Einhell to make them aware of this seemingly common problem resulting in saws being returned, and asked them to please advise. Their response was short and frustratingly unhelpful. They simply said to loosen the saw blade, the bolt needs to be turned in the opposite direction of the running direction, which I already knew, and they knew I already knew. They clearly have a manufacturing problem but appear completely uninterested. As I've already bought the track, and for no other reason, I'm going to give Einhell one last try.

To bad you don’t really show how to aline the door I have a new van and the door is really bad aligned the dealership said it was good like this and they don’t want to do anything about it anymore bus I have like 3 mill in one side and almost a centimeter on the other

The easiest way is probably to loosen all of the brackets slightly and then close the door in alignment and then tighten the brackets back up.

Hi Dan, impressive build. I am about to convert a 7-seater Master into a 4 person van and your video is one of many I've watched in the last 3-4 weeks to get inspiration. Did you by any chance calculate the weight of all added items? It seems to me that a lot of conversions are quite heavy, yours excluded. I just wonder how it effects the performance of the car.
@Renovation-Dan24 күн бұрын
I didn’t keep specific track of the weight but knew how much weight I could add and knew I was well within the limits. I used a lot of lightweight materials to keep the weight down. I didn’t drive the van a lot before doing the conversion but afterwards it still drove really well and didn’t feel heavy. I do see a lot of conversions that do seem to be heavier than they need to be!

@Renovation-Dan26 күн бұрын
Yeah it’s a bit small in there but does me well! It was even smaller when it had a chimney breast in there taking up a lot of floor space! It’s roughly 60 square feet now. I’m defintely happy with the new bandsaw, I’ve just bought a planer thicknesser of the same brand and that seems really good too.
@johnbesharian996526 күн бұрын
In answer to the question: "Can you ... ?" The answer in yes. I've done it on a Craftsman 12" bandsaw. However, the original 1725 rpm, 1/2 hp motor had been replaced with a 1725 rpm, 1 hp Dayton motor from Grainger a friend had given me. A set of CoolBlocs in place of the original 1/4" steel guide blocks and a pair of neoprene tires on the wheels running a Timberwolf 1/2" blade turned it into a pretty good 6" resaw bandsaw. At least on the 7' long, thick American Black Walnut slabs I used it on.

Sounds like a good setup!
@alastairdonaldson-jj9vh26 күн бұрын
Support the wood on both sides of the saw, otherwise you won't be able to keep the wood steady. Always make sure you have 2 square faces on your piece of wood otherwise the blade will inevitably jam. The same applies with a circular saw only with more dangerous consequences. Happy sawing. Best. Best wishes. A.

Thanks, I just cut a section from the other piece I had and it went a lot smoother. I’ve got the planer thicknesser now, so could mill a flat surface onto the piece to make it much steadier!

A trick which saves a lot of problems is to make an adjustable fence out of a couple boards fastened together at 90 degrees so you can clamp them to you saw table . Most band saw blades tend to have a built in drift ---your fence has to allow for this . Start your cut freehand following a straight line---after your into your piece about 12 inches stop your saw without moving your piece ,slide your wooden fence against your work and clamp it to your table . Your wooden fence should now be set for the drift of that blade . It is worth a try and may prevent a lot of future grief . Hope this helps.
@Renovation-Dan26 күн бұрын
Thank you. I’ve just cut a bit off of the other of the lengths I had this week and ran it through the surface planer to get a flat edge then did a relief cut with the track saw which was square this time. Then ran it through the bandsaw freehand and it flew through the rest. I’ve still got a big section of it left so I will definitely try your suggestion when I cut that. Cheers
