Perfect channel! Subscribed. I am in the same situation. Searching for light, fast primes for my a7cii. Hopefuly there is something like voigtlander 35f1.4 with decent af with all its flaws and not so much bigher body and stylish look on the horizont!
@DigitalRetro21 күн бұрын
Thank you for support and appreciation! Glad to have you here man. That would be a perfect 35 - a voigtlander style rendering with AF. Im affraid an impossible dream at this moment. With all lenses I've tried all these years, nothing can replicate the Voigtlander style. Also manual focusing is very easy with today's mirrorless, but yeah...wasting the perfect AF from A7cii for manual lenses is kinda sad. If only they made an affordable rangefinder style body for this purpose. Like a budget A7C. No fancy functions, just compact size and decent sensor(even from A7II/III) and EVF.

@@ChrisSloanes it actually took me almost 3 years to finally decide. While digital lets you shoot color and then you can always convert to BnW, it’s even worse I think(especially when shooting in RAW), because you have the choice(and concern). Sometimes when you see a color picture or a bnw and feel it’s just right - life is good. But when you can’t decide - thats where the horror begins!

Good points especially for street photography. Most mfg do not offer these smaller primes. I like doing street portraits and I’m never needing a 1.8, or 1.2. I always want to include some background. I’ve also found it easier to get a street portrait when you appear like a photographer. When using my GRiii it was almost strange to ever ask for a street portrait when that small camera portrays a different image. Similar to trying to take pics of someone with a cell phone. 👍
@DigitalRetroАй бұрын
Thank you! Yeah I agree completely that having something bigger than GR, yet smaller than typical DSLR looking makes street portraits more easy. GR is great for stealth photography, but looks kinda ridiculous if you ask for a portrait and pull up Ricoh. For me, XT30ii and A7C make the perfect size of a camera and they look "pro" enough, yet not like "scary pro".

I already bought the 18-45mm kit lens with my canon r50. I am wondering if I should go with the 24mm or sigma 18-50mm for taking pictures of my family during christmas..
@DigitalRetroАй бұрын
I'd go for the Sigma if you want a versatile family/vacation lens and don't mind the lack of IS. Sigma 18-50 2.8 is a great lens for all around. Had one with my A6100 and it was a little beast.

NICE VIDEO! I also like the 35mm I amd GM f/1.4. Which ones do you have? Interesting you picked the 50mm f/2.5 G. I have considered that lens as well. I have also considered the GR III since I would like to do street work as well. I kind of lean more toward a 24mm. I am not sure if I actually have fav focal length, dunno. 35mm seems to be the distance I use although I like the 24mm. I would be interested in perhaps a 30 and see if I like that. Now that I am writing you (wait, what's your name) and thinking out loud, I will try shooting with my 24-70 at 30mm and see how that feels and also try 40mm and see if I like those focal length. Maybe that I can forget about a pocket camera (for now) and pick up smaller lens then start using my A1 more. Thanks for the video, I liked it.

Cool video my friend! i just have a question, ive seen in all of the reviews always people say "Its very good having the price range in mind" "its worth every penny" "is perfect for its price range" but price aside, do you realy use it? has it been on your camera for a while? are you shooting constantly with it (maybe its not your fav) or this is just a good value for the price and thats it (having in mind is very very affordable i dont know if that is good or bad)
@DigitalRetro21 күн бұрын
Thank you and sorry for such late reply! I have to admit - the "perfect for it's price" stuff can be a little cliche, so I do own you an extended time of use opinion: I still use this lens. It somehow gives me more fun than any other Fujinon lens I own. It's perfect for street and documentary use. It's AF is sometimes buggy(but hey, welcome to Fuji!), but I took this lens for a trip to Berlin lately, and I just love the mood it captured with over 90% photos in focus. So, yeah if had to choose again - I'd pick this lens over Fuji's 27 2.8 without a doubt. Cheers!

I think you’ll love the Nikkor Z DX 18-140mm f/3.5 - 6.3 VR - it’s a brilliant lens…very sharp, fast, accurate auto focus, plus virtually no CA, - in fact, I’ve actually never seen any at all in my images. I bought the Zfc when it was first released, it’s a terrific, full featured camera (also shoots excellent 4K). There is only one drawback for me - no IBIS. I’ve kept my Zfc, but now shooting with the Zf. Both are cameras you can really connect with - shoot using all the latest technology, or manual, or auto, or mix of both. And Yes, because of that mix you really get into all the possibilities and become a better more knowledgable photographer. - Cheers, Enjoy! P.S. Here’s a link to a Matt Irwin review of the 18-140mm - it’s a great video about this lens: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXuomHt-iKuLfLMsi=DLz58TeQ4sOwcwzU

To anyone who is just stumbling on this video now. Last I heard, Fujifilm will continue to sell the X-T30ii until they run out of them this month. If you want a cheaper alternative to the X100 series camera now would be the time to call your local retailer to see if they got any left or if they're able to put one on order for you. Beware of scalpers they're trying to gouge the price on this as well.

And thanks for the tips on buying used....I think I'm actually going to pick one up used and treasure it. You would probably like the old Biotars by the way, the 50 and the 75 in black and white can be stunning.

Thank you! Means a lot. Especially about the "fake" thing. The last thing I will ever do on this channel is be fake od dishonest about the things I talk about or show. I really don't care about "forced" cooperations, so I can recieve free gear just to tell it's awesome(believe me, I rejected few cooperations already and that's why many companes won't work with me I guess 😂). This channel is purely made out of passion and it will stay that way until the end. As for me being dramatic - yeah, probably I am sometimes. But this drama is real!(unlike the one on reality shows, or YT channels 😅). As for the Biotars - I am planning to get one - probably one of the 50's(especially that Im shooting mostly B&W now). It also makes me lean towards the TTartisan 75 1.5 biotar-copy. I hope to make a video about it soon! Cheers!

Hey man I have the same feeling with my old A6000 and Zeiss 24mm F1.8 Sonnar T. People say Sony cameras are soulless, but I always believe there is no such a thing like souls in cameras. They are just tools and you can have fun and get inspired with any camera because this is very subjective and this video really proves that. I had tried Fuji cameras and still prefer to go out and shoot with my old A6000. It’s just black and no sexy but I like its weight and size which is smaller than most of the Fuji interchangeable lens cameras. And the AF is just that releable that I don’t feel the need to upgrade yet.
@DigitalRetro2 ай бұрын
Yep, the camera is a tool. Although I do believe you need the right tool for yourself I was never the kind of fanboy type saying: you can only have fun with vintage Fuji or [instert any name you want] camera. It's easy to fall into a trap where you chase the camera and not the photos. Any camera that you feel good with is a right camera for you. I do like the Fuji's film simulations, but I just love the AF from Sony - I use both cameras and love using each one of them for certain time/situation. I guess it takes time to grow and learn that the "inspiration" does not come from the "soul" of a certain brand, but from the tool you choose to be yours. You don't get better from switching from Sony to Fuji or from APS-C to FF, because someone says it's more inspiring. It's all subjective like you said!
