hey man, I respect that you hold your mom to such a regard and that similarly, Jeremy thinks of his mother. But, as an asian american (born and raised in U.S.) in his 30s, I cannot forgive my parents yet because the way they raised me and my siblings is the main reason why we struggled so much in our lives and continue to struggle. Everyone turned out okay but with all kinds of battle wounds. When my mom passed away due to cancer, I was 28 years old and was taking my finals for the end of my 8th year in college for my undergraduate degree (i graduated the following year). I struggled so much in school and didn’t get to graduate with a degree in the field i wanted to study, because I didn’t have the resources I needed to succeed. She didn’t get to see that I finally had gotten my first job. My mom and dad fled to escaped the Vietnam war in the 70s. They did not tell us much about their childhood and the traumatic experiences they’ve had prior to coming here to the U.S.

She had a dog in her hands when they open the door the first time in the second time she was holding a water bottle. They’re accusing her of having a knife and saying all that stuff she’s angry and in the middle of a mental health crisis instead of waiting for the professionals when no one is in danger, when they tried to cancel the police because he didn’t even want the cops to come they didn’t need the police. They needed an ambulance and mental health professionals and the first thing they do is shoot her and where is the knife where the knife the knife was on the floor and the other room Cops wanted to act like Cowboys. Rest in peace Victoria Lee. These cops murdered her qualified immunity needs to go away and it needs to go away now before more innocent people get killed. You’re not judge jury and executioner. They are trying to say things like where is the knife stop resisting all kinds of things because they know they’re on camera and a lot of people won’t care until it happens to them or someone they love and then it’s too late. It’s already too late for Victoria Lee and her family. Something needs to be done now.

Could the cops have handled it better? Yes. However, there are people that are acting like the cops were unjust in doing what they did. A grown person that threatened to use the knife she had on one of the cops charged at them right after they got the door open.

Handled it better? Someone is dead, it shouldn’t have happened in the first place. There was no reason for the cops to break down the door, which escalated the whole situation to this point. Police are not trained well-enough to be handling mental crisis, and the fact there was no active danger until they threatened to bust down the door shows that.

@@amy-tl2gu Normal protocol in situations like this where someone is having a mental health episode is to have police involved, and when the person is said to have a dangerous weapon like a knife, then the police go in first. They had no idea if the mentally distressed person with a knife was zero danger to herself if the mother she locked herself in the apartment with. If she was no threat to anyone, not even herself, why was 911 even called at all?

While she is non compliant, and threatens the police. The police had no reason to break in to the apartment in the first place, they not only illegally broke the door down but they murdered an innocent woman who was going through a mental health crisis. Yes, she threatened to stab them, and rushed them(without the knife). But she wouldn’t have if they had not broken in, that’s probably part of the reason why they asked for no police to come. That’s why it’s murder, because it was a pointless and senseless murder, in cold blood.
