Sounds like you need to adjust your 3 carb idle mixer screws.

If I remember correctly it's 14" up from the outside edge. It's 1" up for every 12" of setback

I have the same motor running 10 3/8 X 14 on a 16' Crestliner Aluminum boat. 30 mph at 5000 rpm.

@Goldminer63 cheers mate. I'm in Australia and don't know what the boat u got is 😅. I run a 4.7m runabout aluminium plate runabout and can get up to 26mph running a ss 11 3/8 x 11p prop

D1 is like low on cars, it will jump and is used for towing and uphill riding. D2 is the gear for general use and the rest of them are for speed.

Way to noisy sounds like bad valves, could be several other things. You'll have to go into the motor to fix that noise. Why don;t the dealer fix the problem before they take someones money?

Cool bike but I'm a YFZ450R guy. Hope you got what you wanted out of it. 400EX are fun play bikes they need lots mods like yours to sustain MX race pace. Keep em stock I say. Get a TRX450R or YFZ450R for racing 🏁.
