@@vidarlystadjohansen9829 Yes, the typing era was my favorite as well. (Although I do realize, folks who did not speak English natively had a much better time with this icon interface, so they wouldn't have to guess English words to use!) And yes, Leisure Suit Larry VII was fantastic because it kind of combined typing and icon interface, and the graphics, were uh... very nice at times. :D

Woot! Thank you for the sub! There's... a metric ton of videos of me playing various Sierra games... and then doing commentary (so I separate the videos). Lots of Sierra music on here too. Also some non Sierra games I've played (Legend of Kyrandia series, Blue Force - which to be fair, was by Jim Walls who made Police Quest, the Les Manley series)! Lots of stuff to sift through if you're ever bored! I am currently (admittedly VERY slowly) making my way through Freddy Pharkus next. (There's been a lot of SpaceVenture QA testing in between, plus real life, a lot of D&D games I am running, and also playing Lord of the Rings Online much more lately - all of which has slowed me down!) But hoping 2025 allows me to do more with the channel. :) Long winded responses (wait till you watch any of my commentary, I excel at being long winded!) to simply say Thank you! :)

I go on and gush about how King's Quest IV was also my favorite. It felt like King's Quest - but had so much more (the night and day rotations), the game felt larger... and more alive! And it had, for the first time, a female lead! Which I thought was fantastic (even back then!) it was always male leads! So really cool to see Sierra put a female in the lead position!

Space Question 2 is the one where you crawl around with the Orium (gem) in your mouth. King’s Quest 4: The Perils of Rosella is the game where you have the lantern in the cave with the troll. I believe you are referring to Quest for Glory 2: Trial by Fire. There is a sequence in the game where you use a lamp with a fire elemental in it to light the cavern.

@@danieljm1234 Wow! Age of 4 is pretty young to be starting off with Leisure Suit Larry 1! LOL But I agree - those older "type interface" were one of the key things that helped me learn to type (and type faster in some instances, like in Space Quest 3, where typing something fast was needed in a part or two!) I remember when Sierra changed away from that interface, and went to the icon interface, I wrote them a letter expressing my disappointment (of the lack of funny responses you might get typing, and how easier it became just to try everything in your inventory by clicking it). Then, many years later, with the birth of the internet and discovering how, for folks where English was not their native language, the non-typing interface was a life saver, and made the games enjoyable! So perspective is always good! I am glad you stumbled onto my channel and took the time to comment. There's a lot of other videos on here (I think I am up to like 500 videos - but some are Sierra sound tracks and stuff). I am in the very slow process of playing Freddy Pharkus and hope to get that on the channel soon. I've been pretty lazy about playing it - end of the year has been chaotic at work (and life in general!) - so my energy level is low when it comes to playing games! I could almost write the same comment as "cookie of doom". Game was clunky and full of plotholes (especially at the end, which screams "we ran out of time/budget"), but somehow, it had a lot of charm because of its uniqueness, and I liked it a lot as a kid. Especially the space combat levels which weren't actually that far from an X-wing or wing commander in terms of quality, even if there wasn't that many sadly. And honestly, I absolutely adore the concept of designing a sci-fi universe based on the aesthetics of an ancient culture. The only 2 games that kinda did that too ,as far as I know, are "Asura's Wrath" and an indie game called "Mayan Death Robots". But besides that, I think we just had nothing exploring this very interesting idea. Inca, Aztecs and Mayans are such an untapped well of inspiration. And I wish we would see more of those civilizations and "their art styles" in games and media in general.

I think it's very cool to hear how some folks REALLY loved these games. As I told Cookie of Doom - I think I've only ever PLAYED the first one - and about 200% sure I never beat it or got far in it. (I can't even recall if I still own the copy I played, or if that was my friend's father's copy!) I have a ton of Sierra games I bought as they were coming out all securely in bins! Most of them, I've thankfully been able to get on GoG, so I don't have to try and find ways to get the games off there (although the USB 3.5 was a nice savior, that allowed me to make copies of my own games, just because I have different version numbers than what GoG released, which sometimes had little different things!). But there's no USB 5.25" for me to grab my game files for the games I had on 5.25" drive! But definitely, with the amount of interest and passion that folks talk about the two Inca games I am hoping to eventually play them for my channel on here. :)

@@LetsPlaySierraGames Inca 2 actually was localized to my native french, and the voice actors did arguably a better job than the original ones. ...Not that they were amazing, but they managed to make some scenes less cringe than they were in the original English. XD But as I said, it's the kind of game that had issues so blatant I was very much aware of them, even as a 9 year old. But on the other hand, even 30 years later, there has never been another game like this one. It's an absolutely unique experience. And if you end up resonating with this wild concept of "Incas in space" and/or its eerie atmosphere, the game can be very charming despite all of its flaws. And if you end up disliking it, it will at least be bad in a memorable way, being so different from any other game that ever existed.

@LetsPlaySierraGames
@LetsPlaySierraGames 4 ай бұрын
@@Darkshadow64540 I'd need to go back and play it - but I _think_ you can still continue the game without the codes you get from her? I think the codes you get from her earring give additional information? I might be wrong on that... It's been a long time since I've played and messed up by not getting her earrings (it only took a few harsh lessons and repeated tries to beat the game and getting stuck on the sub sequence... so that I always automatically know to look for her earring - so I can't speak with 100% confidence that the game can continue without it). It would not surprise me, I will say, if you can't continue without it. The game admittedly tries to dead end you repeatedly (it even happened to me in this play through if I remember) - where I gave my ID, forgot to pick it up when I left, when I came right back the guy was like, "You need your ID." And in my head, I am like, "You literally just saw me 2 minutes ago. If you can't let me back to get my ID, can you call the guy who IS holding my ID to come back out here?" So yes, there is definitely some moon logic to the game and repeated attempts to dead end the player, for sure. Although the main character does wonder who she's a spy for when he discovers the earring's secret (kzbin.info/www/bejne/oHiQkH17rtR4gZo). It could be they were never intended for him, and that she, as a spy was using them to decode things she was getting. ;)

I think Mystery House was the first game to feature graphics, if I remember correctly. At least "complex" graphics (like this where it's stairs and such). So I get why the graphics were on the ... eh, rough side. But man, some of it could have definitely used more descriptions... (I am looking at you candle on the dining room table! lol)... and yes, the direction thing was... maddening. When I'd have to do "go door" to go to a doorway, rather than pressing a direction - then trying to figure out how to get out of that doorway/room. So I think if they just relied on directions (N, S, E, W) it would have made getting through that house way more easier. And the forest bit... that forest bit... still angry about that, lol. Because I enjoy playing without a walk through... but there's about an hour of me wandering in the forest that I cut out from the video because it was just me going in a million different directions to figure out which way led out of the forest! :D As for playing my own game - I may do that! I am only 5 subscribers away from 1,000 I just noticed! Awesome! Thanks for commenting. I loved the soundtracks from the games - and it was cool that Shivers II actually had a band with an actual soundtrack to the game! I do love how the tone/pacing changes in that song "Secrets"

It was brought to my attention - near the end of the game - for some reason it randomly blacks out the game (visually) but the game can still be heard. I have no idea how or why that happened and didn't catch it when I rendered the video. So when I did the commentary version - I re-recorded that scene and attached it to the end of it there - you can see that over here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/l4ixh5d_grWhi8U

The second game is definitely the more enjoyable. The first one has its charm - but some of the puzzles are truly punishing (especially when you need to get a specific key in the first game...) The second game has a few things, but over all is very straight forward with what you need to do.

I first got this game in the King's Quest collection (1-7, 3 cds, 1997), it defaults to the talkie version but the floppy version was also included.

I enjoyed the Laura Bow games; if I had to choose, I'd say I liked the first one more! I love the idea of being trapped in a house (reminds me of the movie CLUE, which I love very much!) :) In Dagger of Amon Ra, others would walk into a room where there was a dead body and not even react. It was weird. lol

If it seems like Al Lowe phoned this game in it's because he only made it under duress. He wanted Larry to be done after the third one.

I agree - this entire game feels ... just there. There's no heart. No soul. None of Al Lowe's normal humor. We don't get that until until Leisure Suit Larry VI, and that feels like, because Al realized he phoned it in for LSLV - so he needed to make a LSL game that harkened back to what made LSL fun again.

I remember this game being so fun, and a bit scary! I got to the part where you're suppose to call the purple/pink monster thing (creep? Dreep? Whatev) thorugh a door my using the sound crystal thing... Didn't understand English back then so I went on gut-instinct all the way. Good times. Now, I'll just watch this and see how far I got and what the actual plot is 🙃

The party you mentioned - about Dreep (I think his name is!) - was probably one of the hardest parts of the game! So you gut instinct is pretty amazing! 🙂 I love that people check out my video for different things - and I love that you are able to watch this to see the whole plot of Torin's Passage (which was an incredible game, as you said!) - it feels like you're controlling a Disney cartoon!

Oh weird - I am not sure what would have caused that blackness! But - that area is still fresh in my mind - what part of the puzzle do you need? Have you looked at everything? There's a WHOLE lot to see. Pizza is sticky. Maybe use that for something? If you have those two items - that will get you to the next area. Happy to offer a more direct clue. :)

This is a very early version of the game...! Been doing the beta testing for awhile. There was a break there... but... Well I have good news... they're still working on it. I can confirm (because I've been doing bug testing for them these last few weeks!) :) So hopefully it's public release is on the nearby horizon. Watch my channel for more because I will for sure be announcing it. :)

Welcome to my channel. :) Now to be fair - I also do play games that are similar to Sierra games - for example, I also played the Legend of Kyrandia series on the channel, Blue Force (which was created by the maker of Police Quest - Jim Walls, but was a Tsunami Game - not Sierra) - and even this game - Tachyon Dreams Anthology isn't a Sierra game - but as you can see - very, very, very influenced by Sierra games! But yes, the majority of what you will find on my channel is me going back through Sierra games - as play throughs, and then doing commentaries as a separate video! The games I don't use walk throughs (some of the Sierra games like Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, and most of the King's Quest series are ingrained in my memory from repeated plays in the past) - but there's other games I had only played once - and struggled to get through on my channel. Lighthouse, for example, I'd never completed prior to playing it on my channel - and that ended up being like a 10 hour video. lol
