What about wood movement? Did the cross-grain inlay stay in place?

Great video. And I loved the song, maybe because I also like butter beans. Anyway. You've convinced me that pocket holes would make it a good deal easier than traditional joinery. And the store-bought screen, a nice touch. Thank you.

Thanks for keeping errors. Many KZbin’s make it seem like everything they do goes perfectly, but I think it is better for followers to understand that sh*t happens, and there is usually always a way around it..

Jammed empty toilet paper rolls onto each sensor per your temporary fix solution, works like a champ! Due to my eternal laziness, it'll probably be my permanent fix! (until I have to replace them) Thanks for the great tip! I'm sold/subbbed!

I built two of these as a 'warm-up' to building a Maloof style rocking chair and gave one to the friend I sit down with to play the blues now and then....we both think the stool makes us play a bit better, something to do with better posture perhaps? It's a fun project and no worries about leveling the legs either. -Veteran '66-68

GOODNESS GRACIOUS MISTER!!😂 I commend you for your effort, but I've NEVER seen someone go around their ass to get to their elbow so much in my life!! I would've removed that post and taken it to some saw horses to do all that afro engineering instead of scooting around on my ass and sides to get to all that cutting and notching . And I'm sorry to be critical of your work but it was misaligned and gapped up and ended up looking like hammered horse shit. Sorry but you're gonna need a lot of caulk and paint to make a carpenter what he ain't!!😅😂🤷

A simple fix is to place the receiver on the side of the garage door that does not get the direct sun light. Swap the sensors side to side.

As you already removed the rotted portion, why don’t put a new bracket or paint it with rust proof paint, also the new portion must stained to prevent rotted again.

The guy is really bad, he replaces the rotten wood with cracked wood and even puts the crack lengthwise to make it easier to split in half. Zero rating for this renovation.

o cara é muito ruim, substiui o podre por uma madeira rachada e ainda coloca a rachadura no sentido longitudinal para ficar mais facil partir ao meio. Nota zero pra essa reforma.

Those "grippers" were backwards. Gripper on smooth not on each other. They are actually use to reduce diameter but since you put them on each other that messed it up. You would not have had to cut those slots had you done it correctly.

Shoot man, does it mean this is what my retirement looks like? I would just buy the whole post and replace the whole thing, if the cost of material is a concern, it would be a totally different thing. However, the guys has a lot of tools at his spare, and could have come up with something better looking than that. Just imagine now every time you are there, that ugliness sticks to your eye. Good job for DIY, but now you have to cover it up for visual aesthetics
