also what temperature did you set your heat gun at?
@kenschrage45865 жыл бұрын
Very Nice..Question. I'm going to try and make faux beams with 2" foam boards. I plan to make it 3 sided but I thought it would be easier to make the knots and grain before gluing them together. I did want to put notches on the corners as well. You mentioned using the heat gun does harden the foam. Would you recommend after making the knots, grain and then glue it together, make the notches then use the heat gun on it? thx in advance

great work, job well done. Do you use any kind of hard cover for your foam props? There are many to chose from on the market and i know bart from a haunters life make his own mixture up himself. I just recently got into foaming so im crossing that bridge to find the perfect hard cover for my foam props.
@davevredeveld2216 жыл бұрын
Twisted Dreams Thanks for watching. I didn't use any hardner, although the heatgun process does harden the heated surface quite a bit.

@@davevredeveld221 (here I am back after 4 years!!) ... I appreciate that you shared what you learned... Do you have any updates on this video? Would you do anything different? The reason I'm back... is because I'm getting ready to move back to Albuquerque, New Mexico and RE-Open my Acting Studio and instead of making my usual WOOD Sign... I'm leaning forward to using Foam... Thank you again for sharing this great video.

We had about 2,500 people on the season; about half of what we were after. Just gotta put our ad money in the right places next year. Glad to hear you ended with a bang. Bigger and better next year!

would like to know where you go that relay from
@FrightInFalcon8 жыл бұрын
Hi, Ashley. Here is the link, on Amazon.com, for the relay. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VR1F3LC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It really is overkill for this application, any 12v, 10a relay would do the job. If you order this timer relay, it will come with instructions that provide a link to the manual. This relay has 18 different functions. I used function #10, which is just close when a trigger voltage is applied and open when the trigger voltage is removed.

Get well soon! We got our trailer haunt done, finally. Actually just completed the last bit just prior to this weekend. We opened Sept. 30. We also had many, MANY roadblocks and darn near didn't get to open. So much so, to open, it took the rest of the budget, so that means we had no funds for marketing outside what we already done, plus the zombie truck. BUT! It's boots-to-ground this coming week, calling up news station etc to get them out and do a piece on us etc. So, guerrilla marketing for us! lol. Hope you get well soon and wish you the best of luck with the rest of the haunt! Oh, and to all watching, he's absolutely 100% correct, vlogging and doing a new haunt from scratch is the hardest thing to do imo. Very difficult. We all are behind in videos but hopefully we can make it up to folks with videos after the season. Good luck everyone.

How where you able to get a loan for the haunt
@FrightInFalcon8 жыл бұрын
Well, I spent a couple of years researching and writing a business plan to figure out how much I'd need. Then I submitted it to several banks for a small business loan. I got one loan offer from a business lender, but also was told by another bank that a Home Equity Line of Credit would let me make loan (principle) payments once a year which fit the cash flow of a seasonal haunt a lot better. (I didn't want to have to be making principle payments every month even before my haunt opened.)

i like the idea of a walk way between the trailers rather than stairs, seems like it would be safer. but I'm not the one building all of this :) lots of progress, looking great!

I like that idea better, too. In the meantime, I'll just get a good workout walking up and down the stairs.

You do need to get down here. Feel free to come even before haunt season! (bring tools :) )
@RevNoch8 жыл бұрын
I may do that. Though I'm out of town the next three weekends.
@creepybunny2558 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Thanks for posting. 1. What are the dimensions of your pedestals for the stairs? Mainly the floor size. That's MUCH smaller than mine for the entrance. I know I want a smaller one but not sure how big to go with it. 2. Are you going to be using a lot of 115v in the trailers or going low voltage?
@FrightInFalcon8 жыл бұрын
The 4"x4" posts that we used for the legs are 4 feet tall, making the whole pedestal 4 feet, one and a half inches tall. The platform is 36"x36". We went with that width because our doors are 36" wide. When the haunt is running, we secure the doors open by latching them to the handrails on the stairs.
@creepybunny2558 жыл бұрын
FrightInFalcon I saw that the doors looked like they were fastened to the steps outside. I like that idea. We're still working on our EE doors. Our trailers are linear, not in the horseshoe like yours. When you do trailers in this manner, you must think about which trailer doors are going to be open to allow access, think about if the doors are going to swing and latch to the side of the trailer, because this can affect door placements. We have decided that we'll park our trailers, then open the appropriate door and latch it to the back of the next trailer. The doors swing flush to the next trailer, which is very cool. This way, it doesn't intrude on our doorways from one trailer to the next. If anyone happens to have a question on what I'm meaning here, just ask me, I'll be happy to send photos if needs be etc. Looking great guys! Can't wait for the next video.

Interesting on the if you dont go over a 1k sq ft you dont need sprinkler system, so how the trailers are laid out is that how they will be, will they exit and then re enter to the others?
@FrightInFalcon8 жыл бұрын
Yep. The trailers are arranged specifically to keep the contiguous space under 1,000 sq. ft. They will stay the way they are arranged and exit/re-enter each set of trailers. We have a courtyard area that will be a maze/display area.
@iowac8 жыл бұрын
that is awesome, good info, are you folks going to go with all 12v dc type system? I saw another tractor trailer haunt and they did everything with 12vdc lighting, pneumatics etc.. and i love that due to low voltage = less heat, less power, extreme low risk of any fire..
@FrightInFalcon8 жыл бұрын
Kustom Scares Our plan is to use 12v dc for as many items as possible, but we do have a compressor and fog machines and a few other items that will require 120v ac.
