Finally a dentist that wants to solve the root problem, instead of drill and fill. Except that you didn't mention the most important possible treatment for arresting and preventing Caries. Shame on you lol. You ALMOST got there, I could hear the unease in you voice treading into non-composite territory. Can you explain why HVGIC/ART is being keep 'secret' from people? I mean the research is there, been there, at least 10 years now, we've known to the highest degree of scientific certainty?!?!... survivability comparable to AMALGAM. Almost ENTIRELY eliminates SC. It does NOT fracture or wear like the stuff from the 80s/90s. If you've never personally tried Fuji IX or Ketac Molar easymix, you'll be shocked at the mech. properties. In your opinion, is it entirely due to 'big composite'.

I have a caries and in my country public care will only treat me in 6 months. Would applying silver diamine fluoride be something to considerate? Its a tooth on the bottom, very accessible.

Fluoride is poison even it has a mechanistic effect hardening enamel. I wish there were more studies showing iodine benefits alone rather than just iodine and fluoride treatments. Imagine how much better people's oral health would be if they had sufficient salivary levels of iodine? Urine and saliva iodine levels in patients with dental caries and normal healthy volunteers The aim of this study was to investigate the iodine concentration in the urine and saliva of patients with dental caries and of healthy volunteers in Erzurum, Turkey. Urine and saliva specimens were obtained from 29 patients, who have dental caries and from 26 healthy volunteers. The iodine concentration in the urine of patient's with dental caries was found to be 7.50 ± 2.68 μg/dl, which was lower than the urinary iodine level of healthy persons, which was found to be 12.02 ± 3.16 μg/dl (p < 0.0001). Similarly, the saliva iodine level of patients with dental caries was lower than that of healthy volunteers, beeing 4.42 ± 2.21 μg/dl, 8.28 ±2.78 μg/dl, respectively (p < 0.0001). There was a positive correlation between urinary iodine level and saliva iodine level in both groups (r = 0.750, p < 0.001; r = 0.519, p <0.001). There was, however, no significant difference in iodine levels of urine and saliva between males and females for both groups of subjects. A positive correlation between iodine levels in urine and saliva of patients and healthy volunteers was also observed. Great presentation! Wish I was able to participate when you were giving it live. 1) How do you transition a patient who has gotten used to being able to play while in the ortho chair room, to the bean bag room? 2) I want to get a sensory room, but my concern is that no one will want to leave the sensory room and go to a room where they need to get dentistry done.

What is a good response for patients who ask why they only need one swipe across one surface of the teeth when they are used to varnishes needing to fully cover their teeth in the past? I have been saying that it infiltrates the whole tooth but I don’t know if that’s actually what it’s doing. I had a patient say he wouldn’t paint half a wall of his house and he’s paying for it so wanted every surface covered. I’d be very interested in the science behind all of this and why it is effective with this recommended application process. Maybe a lunch and learn?

Lugol's was tested in the 70s and did not have an effect. There are some similar newer products in development that might work.

Art Of Verity So are smog, air pollution, water pollution, and many plants, herbs, and minerals, we use in our consumer products. What's your point? We do so many deadly cancer-causing, and other health-harming things every day, and in small doses, these don't kill us for a long time. This is a one-year treatment in a low dose. If anything is going to kill us it won't be fluoride.

How does a patient find a dentist that is using GI like this regularly? I would go pretty far to find someone that is doing this type of stuff regularly, the dentists I've gone to still seem very reliant on composites and drill/fill etc.

I am a dental hygienist and I do these types of fillings. They are indicated for certain types of cavities.

If you have fillings, HP will make them fall out unless they are the old amalgam ones. They can have a chemical reaction with the white ones changing their color.

With the fact that Iodine can be used topically for breast issues, removing moles, and a few other things - as well as the fact that you can ingest it... I am wondering if I can possibly use it either on the back of my ear or possibly in my ear. I experienced a full complete loss of hearing in one ear as a child after having an MMR "sharpie" given "on schedule" at one of my wellness visits before attending school. I could hear perfectly out of both ears before that happened so I know what it felt like and I would sure give the world to have that hearing back. (I sing in an audition ensemble at college and I also play classical piano)... Anyone know if I could use it to possibly help regain my hearing in that ear?

I have my doubts but you could still try. It would not hurt to rub just a little on the ear. I would not be pouring it in my ear though because iodine can be stingy and drying.
