A message to the deluded Monkeydonian trolls that fantasize about shaking their Slavic identity for an ancient Hellenic one. Have a good read Vulgari. Unfortunately your fake, Slavic, TITO fabricated history, isn't recognised or taught anywhere. Unless you include the fake nation, that just changed its name and agreed to stop using ancient Macedonia symbols. A few facts for you importer 1) You are a Slav probably Bulgarian, 2) Your invading, past occupiers' now are buried deep in Macedonia , and fertilize our crops nicely, 3) we are still MACEDONIA , no name change requested or required. 4) Bitola is a Greek city called Heraclea , it belongs to Greece.

Well, the romans actually conquered Greece in the 2nd century BC. And Thessaloniki even had a jewish community around 1st century BD. I hope they're gone by now ... You might want to learn a little bit more history :) ...I'm just joking.

Your name is actually Greek, Ancient Greek name(Dimitra/Δήμητρα in Ancient Demeter/Δημήτηρ for female and Δημήτριος/Dimitrios or Dimitris for the males). Dimitra/Demeter was the ancient Greek goddess of the harvest and agriculture.

the romans was in greece after they beat the macedon in 166bc because they allied themselves with karthage. greeks became roman soon after and continued to be romans for the next 1600 years until the fall of constantinople in 1453 when the last roman emperor constantinos palailogos died fighting. he had a serbian mother btw with name helena dragassi and she was the daughter of the serbian king konstantin dejanovic. even today greek refer to themselves as romans (rhomaios) , especially in christian and church matters.

Such a biased video, fixated on the negative aspects so much that it ignores the positive ones (which city doesn't have both) and made some glaring, easily searchable mistakes, bordering misinformation. Oh well, haters gonna hate.

We weren't trying to "review" Thessaloniki, but rather share our experience and the things we liked/disliked based on our experience. Where we come from, there aren't such scammers in the streets, so it was surprising to see. The city is nice, but to be honest, as much as I love Greek islands, I don't like Greek cities. Neither Athens nor Thessaloniki.

Very nice video. One correction. Hagia Sophia wasn't a mosque that became an Orthodox church. It was build as an Orthodox church and then was transformed into a mosque and after the liberation of the city it became again a church. Most of the mosques (if not all) that were in Thessaloniki were Byzantine churches before. The actual buildings of the ottomans were some baths and towers for the city defence. Thank you

8:55 you have no idea. The reason the city doesn't have a metro station is because they find ruins everywhere they dig and for so many years there have been discussions about whether they should move these ruins to museums or not. The plan for the metro station started in 1989 and it's still not done to this day. Some stations are finished though. It's said to be completely done and running by the end of 2023.

Great video, really like the images, however have to tell you (as a tip, not as criticism) I am having great difficulties understanding David. I really had to switch on the subtitles of KZbin in order to understand what he was saying. Jelena was a bit better, but for the both of you I would like to suggest to focus a bit more on pronunciation of the English language, it will help getting more views Also, think what you want to say before you say it. If you are at a monastery it would be nice if you know the name and where it is. Sounds a bit weird to say that it is a monastery, church or a chapel. Same goes for saying that you are on top of Corfu, while we can see left and right hills that are much higher. if you want to take your channel to the next level these are items you want to pay attention to. If you just want to save these videos as a memory of your travels..................forget all above. 😀

Thank you Dave! This was actually our first video shot (even though it was almost the last one published), so I hope that we've gotten better at it over the time. Those vlogs for us are more for fun, and as a way to save a memory, like you said, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to make them as best as possible! Researching in advance - also, we've gotten better at it, but still far from being really good, as we usually shot the videos while exploring a new place. But maybe we could add some titles with the name of the place, or other such things. Thank you so much for your comments!

Wow your name is Dimitri and you’re Jewish! That means Thessaloniki is your home! Saint Demetrius whom you’re named after lived and martyred in this city in the place of the church you visited and Thessaloniki used to be the largest Jewish city after Jerusalem(population-wise) until WWII. It had a very large population of Sephardi Jews. There’s a museum you can visit about it and you can learn more about the history of the city inside the White Tower. I hope you guys had a great time! Thank you very much for appreciating good old Thessalonica! I hope you’ll come visit again soon!❤️
