I have the long version. And an Ultralite medium. Have slept in them down to their given limit comfortably. And in them both combined with an insulated fjellduken to -31F/-35C. It felt like it could have gone even further down

I've never owned a WM bag (being from europe, all the import duties and stuff) and didn't see one yet, but I own 2 Cumulus bags. One for 3 seasons (my first bag), and another winter one which I've bought after making a mistake and buying another winter bag from another well known premium brand (won't say the name)... Needless to say, I was utterly disappointed when I noticed that the loft of the "premium brand winter bag" was equal to my Cumulus for three seasons, lol... Costliest mistake of my life so far. Had to get a winter bag from Cumulus to fix my mistake. The amount of loft is simply much higher, and the design too. Moral of the story: yes, some brands really make much better bags than other, even if they claim the same temperature rating. Look for the details, like baffle design and loft, that's the key.

The 400F thing is called a marquench or martemper, it doesnt do anything for hardness but it does bring you past the nose but stops before it turns back into martensite for the most part. Its when it chnages to martensite that you get the 2% expansion so doing it slow is good for reducing cracking and warping, you can bend it before it sets. The unexpected thing is that you easily get 2x toughness even after tempering from many steels this way by reducing the internal stresses. Anyone thats worth their salt that does traditional water quenching is an expert at pulling the knife before you get into the martensite region below 500f where water cools significantly faster than oil.

Nice video and review. Bought a WM Ponderosa years ago. Great bag but does not have the collar and i miss that. Now looking at another WM bag, prob the bristlecone. Wondering if you think getting the bag overfilled is worth it. Doesnt cost too much i think.

After watching this, I kinda see 60m as for casual work. At 100m, it’s best for serous work like a movie. I know a big difference is that 100m has bigger space I might be wrong about the quality. I have filmed concerts at 4k 100m cause I want the videos to look amazing. What do you think?

I selected the WM Antelope (5ºF) with Gore Windstopper outer instead of the Microfiber outer which has a 2,000 Hydrostatic Pressure rating. GWS outer has a 12,000 Hydrostatic Pressure rating. This outer will not absorb moisture/water. Huge thank you to another youtuber, Al Linsdau whose video clearly showed the differences between Microfiber & Gore Windstoper outer fabrics. WM uses YKK COIL zippers - no teeth to snag. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

bad test, needs to be motion to tell a difference. if the scene is static, then there wont even be a difference between 10mbps and 100mbps

Hey man, spectacular review! I wish you would review ALL of their gear and help us out when choosing. First time hiker here, never slept in a tent and about to choose my first sleeping bag. Huge dilemma: Kodiak MF or Lynx. Average temperatures where I plan to camp are -5C all the way to -15C. That's average, so basically, sometime it can go even lower... tent is Hilleberg Allak and the pad will be Thermarest XTherm. Any ideas which one to go for? :) Cheers

Hard to say. Would depend on how warm or cold you sleep. For me personally I usually never regret taking something too warm in the winter.🙂 Thanks my friend!

Almost no difference at all, only small ones (tiny) difference at - 02:35 and when you put the captions and it's clear that it is brighter at - 02:00! I will sure use 30fps 60m.

Thanks for sharing. I find few people really dive deep into such comparisons. All I hear is, shoot at 100M for the best quality possible. But from the side by side comparison, I really cannot tell the difference between 60M and 100M.

Been researching the western mountaineering bags with no luck on a question. Your about the same size and weight as I am, and I hate the thought of a bag wrapping me up tight with no wiggle room. especially in foot box area. I am a side sleeper as well. The antelope is an expensive bag so I sure don't want any regrets

As far as I can tell the only noticeable difference is that 100mbps can make out different colors at long range better than 60mbps. That's probably good for when it's bright out. Other wise their isn't much difference. Maybe if this was shot on a sunny day their might be something more noticeable.
@mightywhite3602 жыл бұрын
You can probably use a steel fence post for quenching.

for people wondering why theres not much difference. bitrate is only relevant if theres alot of big motion in the video. like the camera moving on a gimbal, or city center with alot of people moving. thats is why usually action camera videos tend to look low bitrate = because of fast motion. high bitrate is not worth it for static videos even with little motion, because theres other factors also like shutter speed, which can slightly blur out any artefacts. so in summary, its not worth it. unless you do alot of gimbal work with fast motion.

@@ruciferu93 60mbs is enough. just use a stabilized wide angle lens plus gimbal because zve10 doesnt have ibis.

Can't really se any difference here. The difference will be much more visible if the video is compressed by youtube's lower quality AVC codec instead of the higher quality VP9 codec. 1920x1080 (and smaller) videos usually are compressed by the lower quality codec, and 2560x1440 (and larger) are compressed by the higher quality codec. Right-click on a youtube video, Stats for nerds, Codecs. Here is a 1080p video where the pixelation is really visible because of the moving water and low quality AVC codec recompression ► kzbin.info/www/bejne/naG8o3-nhLh3n9U
