You could use anything really, a little piece of wood, some plastic. Anything you can adhere the clay to, you will just need to research an appropriate glue that will make it stick

Great DIY project. Am I able to use store bought wax? I have a bunch already and I like the idea of making your own seal. And do I have to place the wax on parchment paper or can I place the wax directly on the envelope flap? Thanks!
@RosemaryTravale
@RosemaryTravale 3 жыл бұрын
thanks! I haven't used store bought wax but you can definitely try it out. As for putting it directly onto the envelope, you could do that for sure. I just like doing it on the parchment paper first in case it doesn't turn out as well as I want it so I'm not wasting envelopes. Good luck!

I’d add a clear coat to the stamp so wax detaches easier! The roughed up surface from the sandpaper encourages sticking, but a smooth surface will peel better. A spray on clear coat would leave the most even surface and can be found for under $10, but I’ve seen glossy mod podge at the dollar store if you’re on a SUPER tight budget

I don't understand why literally ALL these videos don't tell us how long (hours?) we have to wait for the paint to dry lol
@RosemaryTravale
@RosemaryTravale 3 жыл бұрын
When you are mixing the paint with soap it really changes the time it takes depending on how thick you put it on, so I can't really estimate for each person. The best solution I have it to say "wait for it to dry" so you can check it yourself after half an hour or so and then use that as a guide. Even if I did say "wait twenty minutes", depending on the weather and humidity in your area paint can take more or less time to dry.

Thanks for the info! How did you get an even circle on the scroll at the beginning of your video? My wax always runs.
@RosemaryTravale
@RosemaryTravale 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! You might need to add a bit more glue to make it less runny. I just carefully drip the wax mix slowly into the same spot so it will pool in to a circle, making sure I'm working on a flat surface. I also made some that weren't that perfect of a circle when I was trying it out to start, it took a little practice to get them nice and neat. Good luck! !

You can use just a bit of wax to hold your paper together. Set it aside. Now use your seal and wax to make a stamping just like she showed in this video only do it on parchment or wax paper. When it cools remove it. Add a bit of melted wax to the back of your new seal and press it onto the exact spot you sealed the paper in the beginning. Hold for a bit. That's it. You can make lots of stampings on wax paper and if they don't turn out, just remelt and try again. Three M two sided Tape can also attach your wax to the paper instead of melted wax.
