I've done many similar projects I'd like to give you a suggestion, when putting the hardware back on, use a dab of glue in the hole. Wood glue or whatever you have. It's worth the effort

You can also mix more water woth the box paint so that you can still see some of the wood grain! Lovely design as well! It's so cute!

Get hacks using the pencil’s graphite to work as a transpire medium and using that little magnet to mark your measurement on a metal ruler. Very impressed!

Nah, I prefer using the cheap stuff, it's usually just as good if you put in the work to clean it up a little. And if you're just getting started there's no reason to drop a lot of money on something you might lose interest in within a couple weeks!

I’ve been into DND for 3 years and almost DIYS I’ve done have been with things from the dollar store unless I need specific materials to be good quality. The boxes they have at the dollar store near me vs. the craft store and basically the same quality anyway.

I went to Michaels and got a small wooden chest for my box, and i stained it to look like the old wooden chests from Ultima Online, and lined the inside with felt.

I did try to varnish one of these cheap wood boxes but since they are so low quality they have so much glue on them, you really have to sand them to make the varnish look half decent, so I'd rather just paint it, it's easier and still looks good in the end!

A few years back a book was put out called 'The Adventure Zine' where a bunch of artists were asked to do illustrations around The Adventure Zone and then it was sold and all profits went to charity. As a thank you to the artists involved we were given those limited edition dice in addition to our contributor copies. As far as I know they are not for sale anywhere

@@RosemaryTravale Do some research on KZbin SEO. Essentially the first sentence in your description holds a lot of weight. And also look at your title. Then do some research, what are people searching for? you can do that by slowly typing in How. To. Make. Dice. etc this will start giving suggestions of what other people search and then you can optimize your titles and descriptions for that. Well optimized titles and descriptions should get a video ranking quickly. Also be sure to ask us to like, comment, and subscribe. The engagement on the video helps a TON too. I hope all the best for you this was a great video. Last tip: Build an audience on other platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc and then bring them over to KZbin.

Would a wood stain work on the box? I know there are some woods that won't stain.

I did try staining one of these but the issue was since it's such cheap wood and made with such low quality there was a lot of glue all over it from the manufacturer. So it looked pretty terrible in the end. I think I would have had to really sand the inside and out to make the surface clean enough to take the stain well. I would definitely say you could do a test with some stain inside a wood box to see how it reacts, and if it doesn't work, that's a spot you'd just be putting foam over so it wouldn't matter if you changed your mind and painted it instead.

I bought the foam at a Japanese dollar store we have in Canada called Daiso, which has now rebranded to Oomomo. I have seen it at dollarama as well, so I think most dollar stores should have it.
