So I had a weird idea about a half hour ago and started jotting down notes, but I'd like a second or more opinions: how would one combine classic wuxia with Greek myth to create an epic story to tell? Wuxia is all about using hard work and perseverance to advance oneself physically, mentally, and spiritually; it's a tale of self-improvement and personal evolution. The Greek epics follow champions who, often with gifts from the gods or the threads of fate, travel to far off and fabled lands in search of glory; these can end in the hero's rise or ruin, depending on whether or not he succumbs to hubris, treachery, or wrath. Anyone have any ideas?

Six years later, I have found this video useful. I have never played a *real* dnd game. I have listened to a couple campaigns and played various games like Neverwinter Nights and the Baldur’s Gate series back when… and I want to play a real game so badly.

This video reminded me of one reason why I disliked by first DnD session: In order to kill an enemy, you have to pass the AC roll to even deal damage which fails half the time (or much more if you're disadvantaged), then roll for damage which may just end up in the single digits, and do it all multiple times to down an enemy with even just an average-looking health bar (e.g. 15 HP for lvl 3 players). Imagine your first three turns in combat are miss + deal 5 damage + miss. Made exponentially worse if there are multiple enemies, because on top of having more enemies to kill, you also need to spend more actions dealing with tactical conditions and managing your survival. Not to mention using up spell slots. Maybe my DM was just bad / didn't adapt the fight to what the players want out of the game / was trying to teach/pressure us to avoid the fight (our first combat for a team of newbies btw). But I hope in normal games, just doing satisfying damage on your turn doesn't require two good rolls (AC then damage) every time. Maybe AC should be set real low for trash mobs, and/or AC can be treated as damage reduction instead of dodge chance.

I’m having yet to get started on this. I’ve gained a serious interest in this. I do have something about to say this on Dice - even for the D3s - I think we could use the Dice from “Betrayal at House on the Hill”, for they only go up to 2 via - Two Blanks 0 - Two 1s - Two 2s… maybe if I used those Dice - I could make the Blank Sides as 3s for Call of Cthulhu. -- for the part on where you must Roll Lower for Success, that’s exactly much like the Haunt Rolls in Betrayal at House on the Hill (3rd Edition, or Bulder’s Gate, or Legacy)

She's not going to unexpectedly step in front of her own gun.
