Go for the 4080, Nvidia has superior RTX. They both are pretty evenly matched in performance but the 4080S might be slightly ahead being newer. Also depends on what games you play as some games run better on Nvidia and vice versa.

It's an Alienware. I've had it at 102C and it keeps on going. It's not something that you want to see but many Alienware laptops run pretty toasty. There are other modes to try to keep heat down which work but it will cost you some performance.

Video is great but when I ordered part from links, they sent 2 of the same side fans instead of a pair for left & right. Unfortunately it wasn't the bad fan side either

did you track the temps against performance? possible that the GPU ran hotter because it went higher voltage for longer due to be heat dissipation

I'm in the market for a machine but I may wait till the 50 series drops. This may change if I find a good budget machine to review. As for $1200, I've found nothing in that price range with 17 inch screen unless you go older. Personally I would look at these 2. www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-victus-16-1-gaming-laptop-amd-ryzen-7-8845hs-16gb-ddr5-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4070-512gb-ssd-mica-silver/6578934.p?skuId=6578934 It's HP's budget line just like an Acer. Has a 16in screen and a 4070. I read that its around 120W and can go up to 140W. You also get access to DLSS 3 and it had 8GB or mem. Not a bad price. Also has AMD CPU. No info on refresh rate on panel which is 1920x1080. The other is a Gigabyte www.bestbuy.com/site/gigabyte-16-165hz-gaming-laptop-ips-intel-i7-13620h-with-32gb-ram-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-1tb-ssd-black/6576659.p?skuId=6576659 has a 4060, less GPU RAM but has 32GB of system RAM. Refresh rate is 165 on 1920x1080 panel and has Intel i7 13620H. Don't know much about Gigabyte laptops but i've used many of their Motherboards which never failed.

No, this just allows you to install an extra 2.5 HDD or SSD.

I just want to share with you guys, there is other problem with the dust that not only the dust that stuck on the fan, but the dust that stuck on the heatsink inside. even though the fan is clean, if you don't get rid the dust that stuck on the heatsink inside, the hot air will not get out from the laptop, it will make you laptop overheat.

@@stardomplays1386 You have to detach the fan from the heat pipe, then inside it you can brush it. 1. remove the heatpipe from the motherboard, becareful because legion 5 fan and the heat-pipe is merged. 2. remove all the screw of the fan, detach the fan from heat pipe 3. brush the inner side of the heatsink 4. then re-assemble

This cant be 1440p the rx 7900 xtx can run rdr2 with like 170 fps at 1440p in most tests but this looks like the tests in 4k

I dont get that high CPU use on my 7800x3d. I play at 3440x1440, and run at my refresh rate of 100fps with almost no drop, but on High, not Ultra. I have noticed that any resolution scaling will cause more CPU overhead. Also, Ultra setting on vegetation and rubble density is CPU costly.
