I will be ordering some thanks for the video!! Can you please tell me the model of leader you use for that topwater? I saw there are several types and I want to make sure I get the proper one. Thanks again for the great videos!
@JoeBucherVideo10 күн бұрын
Thanks for the positive comments. The leader in this video is a new coated wire one JBO will be coming out with soon. That being said, both our heavy fluorocarbon leaders as well as our current JBO 00947 and 00997 will work well here.

@@JoeBucherVideo would you mind to suggest a St. Croix rod in the 200 dollar range I could throw these top waters on? I own a 7 foot and a 7’4 H/F mojo bass casting rod. Would those work? Thank you again for any advice.
@JoeBucherVideo10 күн бұрын
Your current rods will probably work ok, but I personally prefer a length of at least 8’ and a MH action. Better on F8s and short range battles.
@northwoodsknifeguy250310 күн бұрын
@@JoeBucherVideo gotcha. I will look into purchasing a longer MH. Thank you for your time and response!

Joe, I just had this happen last week(over here in the western states)… I saw over 20 fish in less than 10 hours of fishing. Overcast with bright color bait. They didn’t look at anything else. In fact I noticed the aggressiveness absolutely increase with same lure if I first had a follow and then went back a few hours later or next day. They were hitting it hard! Thanks for the video, agree with everything you said. What color would you use mid day, clear sky’s on a lake that is very clear (can see up to 15-20 feet down sometimes)? This is when I noticed my bite slowed down with that lure… as the clouds went away and then temp increased.
@JoeBucherVideo21 күн бұрын
Excellent observations! Thanks for sharing them. As for the mid day, clear skies, clear lake question: I generally shift to smaller baits, natural colors and long casts. Trolling too.

Joe, would you consider the 500 more successful than the 700? The 700 is usually all I throw, I still need to get a 500. Thanks!

One could argue YES since the 500 is simply effortless to throw yet still catches em. But don’t ever give up on your 700s. 👌

when does the top water bite stop?
@JoeBucherVideoАй бұрын
Great question with no clear cut answer. All I can tell you is- I’ve caught quite a few topwater muskies in September. And a handful in October.
@FitnessNews24Ай бұрын
Can you tie these direct to braid? Maybe it’s long enough not to need a leader?
@JoeBucherVideoАй бұрын
If you are chasing muskies, the answer is definitely NO. You will need a wire leader to prevent bite offs.

Hey Joe, hopefully you read my message here. What's the best rod and reel setup for tossing smaller baits? I'm asking in order to help my dad out. He's 83 years old and has some ailments. I want him to be able to cast small baits a long distance. Thank you.
@JoeBucherVideoАй бұрын
Easy answer - get him a St Croix Legend Tournament Downsizer 86 or 90. I was instrumental in this rod series release a few years back. The 710 in this series is my all around favorite. All capable of throwing small lures effortlessly.

You're the king, Joe. I appreciate your advice greatly. One about the top waters is that I many seem to think it's a "Calm water technique". I've had the very best luck with top raiders fishing the roughest, windiest side of the lake on the windiest days. Something about the top water diving into the waves on the way back to the boat seems to trigger fish.
