'Economy' - that's a good word - perfectly encapsulates what you do and what I'm trying to do.

Really love your approach to charcoal portraits and rendering. I went to your website to buy this video but I couldn't find it on there as there is nothing in the demo section. Are these charcoal demos still available for sale anywhere? Would love to buy them and learn from them.

stunning demonstration, beautiful brushwork! please may i ask whether you use a medium or dryer such as liquin or whether you just add linseed oil or similar to get that fabulous paint texture....for you, the paint is sumptuous and buttery but doesn't dribble down the canvas and i love that quality...may icask what you add to your paint to achieve that...thank you and thank you again for the beautiful demonstration.

@@chrisedwick It is different than Liquin. Galkyd is more the consistency of oil, whereas Liquin is a jell. It also does not smell as bad as Liquin.

Thank you David! This compressed view helps us understand the painting process for these compelling "moving" subjects. I am curious about the bright pink underpainting. What purpose does that serve?
@davishev2 жыл бұрын
I use different colors for a ground tone. I like to let parts of the tone show through in the final piece. In this case I chose pink because I just happened to like it.

I love David's work , always have. I remember when he did the sumo wrestlers paintings . I was blown away. I like the loose style . To paint loose like that and keep your colors that clean and bright is very very difficult to do. He makes it look easy. Great interview, great questions , great host . 👌

It is beyond comprehension that David, as he described in this video, actually struggled to sell his art just ten years ago. The originality of his compositions, virtuosity of his brushwork and his fluency across different representational styles is just astonishing. He is unambiguously a modern master. Fortunately the art world figured it out by now.

One might watch this artist creating this amazing scene so many times hoping to see who wins this fight. It is only an illusion guys. It's the genius of an artist who tricks your emotions and eyes as you hope one of the wrestlers is going to be sent out of the ring. But hey may the best one win this one. Or maybe I will watch it one more time and find out. What a shinning star this artist is. I have alot to say about him but I will just shut up for now 💙
