Hello Jean! I knew that I would hear back from you! I got a notice this afternoon from Lyft asking me if I wanted to tip you. I had pushed the five stars and the tip while you were getting my rollator out of the trunk. It seems that it did not go through then. So I added a $5.00 tip for you on the app. Sorry for any confusion! Just stay friendly and the tips will roll in. Service is the key to this job, and you understand that as a Musician like me. Go out of your way for you customers and this job will treat you well with Lyft. I was on numerous National TV Shows that are up here including the two Tonight Shows in 1979 which is in two parts, and the one in 2001 with Leno. I was on Evening Magazine where the Show ran my feature Nationally twice. I make music in many different ways in my over two hundred videos that are up here starting in 2007. I will check out your Channel and see if I can put you in touch with some of my friends who do the same thing as you. Wishing you all the best! Jean, I listened to you singing the beautiful Haitian Song with your wonderful gentle voice and expressive guitar! You are a FINE MUSICIAN AND TALENTED! Please let people post Comments. I have a whole audience of friends who would love to watch and leave comments on your Channel. Once you open up the Comments, I will post that video up for many to see and enjoy as much as I did! DO NOT HIDE YOUR ABILITY!! I did send the video to a friend from an African Country that I met here knowing that she would enjoy it. But, she has to be able to leave a comment. You two will get along great!

@HandwhistlerBen Wow! You've been at it for 60 & here I am just discovering the wonderful world of whistling and it's niche community here on KZbin.. everybody is so friendly and kind! See I came across your channel via another excellent whistler - ManuTubaWhistler & was especially curious due to your name! I'm glad I clicked as I'm totally fascinated by handwhistling - particularly the movement of the hands which I totally wasn't expecting! I don't know whether it's the vibrations bouncing off your palms or what it is but there is a certain warmth to the Handocarino' (very cool term) that I really admire.. (obviously it being displayed by an expert of 60 years has a big part to play! 😄).. Lastly, I appreciate your response, Ben & will most definitely be checking out your videos & maybe someday even learn the Handocarino (got alot of work to do w/ just whistling 1st 😅).. I wish you & your family well & I look forward to more videos to come! God bless! 🙏

In Kendo practice, the emphasis is not on 'chest breathing' or 'abdominal breathing', but on 'Tanden-style breathing' (Tanden = 10 cm below the navel = lower abdomen). Ben's practice method seems to me to be exactly like 'Tanden-style breathing'. I will practice hand ocarina while watching this video. Thank you for teaching me how to practise with this video.

Bernat- Thank you for watching my first handwhistling videos that I posted onto KZbin with a Camcorder operated by my Son. I may post a few more videos in the future, but, at 71, and having being a guest on many National TV Shows, I still practice every day. Please post two videos of your Handwhistling, playing an eight note scale going up and then down. In the second video, hold each note out for two counts, take a breath and then play the next note. If you do that for me, I will give you advice on how to improve. I started practicing at 12 years old and in 1965 and was practicing over an hour every day, even up to two or more hours. Put in, HandwhistlerBen on Tonight Show 1979. There are two videos to that Show up. Then put in HandwhistlerBen on Evening Magazine 1979, There are over 200 vdeos up. Everything that I do with my Handwhistling control is Professionally done. Post the URL here when you have the videos up, and I will look them over.

Peter- I started practicing my Handwhistling in 1965 and practiced on and off up to three hours a day, also the recorder. I started piano lessons at 7, clarinet at 9, Bassoon at 12. In later years I learned tenor saxophone, and oboe along with starting singing at a young age. I Handwhistled and played all these other instruments while still going to School and doing homework. I also had time to play outside! Here I am at 71, and if you watch my most recent videos, you will see that I am still improving and haven't lost any of my abilities. Wishing you all the best.

The song is, "What Kind of Fool Am I" written by Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse . I picked the song because of the funny title in relation to me playing music with my Hands, and because it let me play my entire range of notes- Two Octaves and a Fifth. Do you Handwhistle? If so, can you post some videos of it on your Channel?

Hello Ben - you're fantastic as ever! We know each other, but several years ago I left you a message - and although you answered me, it was clear you didn't remember who I was. I thought maybe now if I were to elaborate a little it might jog your memory a bit. Do you remember the Thursday afternoon student recitals at UNM circa 1974-75? I also am a handwhistler, and we got together to play a couple of soprano recorder duets one Thursday afternoon in front of the "crowd." My name is Amy (Nowacki) Nickell - ring a bell maybe? You played the top part and I played the lower... we were very well received and actually had a lot of fun, I thought. At any rate, my one goal was the Tonight Show, and darned if you didn't beat me to it !! I came home from my waitress job in Boulder one night (went to grad school at CU) - turned on the TV, and there you were! I was equal parts blown away by your virtuosity, and furious to have missed my chance :). So... it's really good to see you doing so well. I certainly don't expect you to have total recall🤯, but hope you enjoyed the anecdote... we're obviously getting a little older and want to stay relevant, but sometimes it's fun to look back. Best of luck with all your endeavors! Amy:)

Hello Amy. I vaguely remember playing a duet with a young woman. But, I only went there from September 1971 to December 1972 and transferred to Philadelphia Musical Academy which became Philadelphia College of the Performing Arts and then University of the Arts which just closed for good a week ago after being in existence since around 1880. Anyway, I have massive damage in my Lumbar spine, but still put time into my Handwhistling daily. Here is the full rendition of this song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f32kkpyQhKesoaM Please post some of your Handwhistling on your Channel! By the way, I contacted our local Newspapers for a number of my local performances. That is how the Tonight Show found out about me......someone connected to the Show sent it out to them. THEY CONTACTED ME THROUGH MY PARENTS. I called them, and they set up the First Class Airfare, Limo, Two nights in the Sheraton Universal i Burbank and I got paid $448. for my ten minute appearance with David Letterman who was guest host with Doc since Johnnyt Carson was off that night. David did not have his own late night Show for three more years! I put eight minutes in two videos of my Interview and then Part two which was me playine, "What Kind of Fool Am I". I was on lots of TV Shows that are up here including Evening Magazine which made me their Feature through the entire USA. I was very lucky, but worked very hard. My published article in 1978 and other interesting publicity are up on my Ben Brenner (HandwhistlerNBen) Facebook Page. If you "Request me as a Friend, I will accept!. I performed with Peter Schickele for three nights during Christmas of 1975 in Averry Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center performing the Marcello Sonata in E minor with piano accompaniment and I used the fingers on the cheeks of my face to play the Turkish March with accompaniment. I look forward to seeing your Handwhistling up on your Channel. Wishing you all the best!

Hello Peter. I was contacted by the Talent Coordinator from the Tonight Show who wrote a letter to my Parents. I contacted the three Newspapers in Philadelphia for several of my performances and someone sent them out to the Show people. I was living in an Apartment with my older brother. I had already earned my College Degree to Teach Music and was teaching in the Philadelphia School District at the time of this Show. The letter said that they were interested in having me on, and to call them. I played for them over the phone and they said that my First Class Airfare tickets, limo, two nights in the top Hotel in Burbank were all set up with the date of this Show. I was on for ten minutes. I posted eight minutes of it in two videos. Here is my Interview. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKW3aqKtoc-ogpY David Letterman was Guest Hosting with Doc Severinsen for Johnny Carson who was off that day. David would not have his own late night Show for three more years in 1982. I wish you all the best! I look forward to hear your handwhistling and hope that you have some videos up on your Channel!!

After that, I was a bit impatient because I had hardly practised and the sound was not coming out well. Please post a few videos showing me your advanced Handwhistling skills and I will be more than happy to advise you on how to improve your technique or tone, or put you in touch with one of the hundreds of friends that I know who could assist you the most. I have been practicing my Handwhistling for 60 years. I still practice every day, and at 71, can still play 98 percent of what I did forty years ago. One of my recent videos, I take so much air into the lower part of my lungs by use of my diaphragm muscles and my two lungs in my chest that I play the whole first phrase of 23 seconds on ONE BREATH.
