Whos' stock is that? and did you add pillars when you bed the action?
@snoyes342312 күн бұрын
found your earlier video, Byods stock.. did you ever get it to shoot the the suppressor on it? also did you pilar bed it? \
@cavedweller19592 күн бұрын
No pillars. The only rifle I can recall owning that got less accurate the longer I had it. Find a good recipe this week, return next week with more of the same & it would print 2"-4" groups. I parted with it some time ago.

Hey I just found your channel and subscribed. Could you tell me did the 455 come threaded or did you have it threaded? The reason I ask is I am looking at the CZ 457 LH Varmint and it does not come threaded. So if I buy it, I would have to get it threaded. Thanks!
@cavedweller19592 күн бұрын
I had mine threaded by a local smith.

No need to quench brass in water. It is meant to be air cooled. Quenching only makes it harder like its be fired in the chamber again.

I wonder if Lanolin and Acetone would work? cheap easy to get, 100% evaporation in seconds. I've heard of guys using Lee bullet lube and acetone with good success.
@cavedweller19599 күн бұрын
It would probably work fine, but who would want to be breathing the fumes?
@EitriBrokkr9 күн бұрын
@cavedweller1959 outside, cookie pan. Should only take seconds... And you're breathing the alcohol fumes 🤷♂️

Why did I read it as Anal Eze?? I do it the old fashioned (read -Cheap) way with a fixture I turned out of aluminum and run in a drill. I hold in front of the flame, and they drop them into a stainless bin with water. Did 100 rounds last night and they're polishing right now!! Hell YEAH!!!!
@cavedweller195912 күн бұрын
Reading it as Anal Eze probably has something to do with your favorite past times. I've annealed my brass by hand and with the drill method for 30-40 years, and yes it works. It will keep the case soft to keep it from cracking, but you don't have any real consistency as for the neck tension. Too many variables.

Never, I'd have to find something else to do all summer. Right now the plague is trying to do the eradicating.

@keithlun7313 күн бұрын
You should not dump those in water it makes them hard that's called quenching metal. You need to let him cool down at room temperature over time that's called tempering That's the point of annealing.
@cavedweller195913 күн бұрын
This is brass, not iron/steel.

nice job you know you can simplify things by taking the trigger group off, no need to have it in place for the fitting and glassing.

Do it. This Odin Works barrel gets better every time I put it on paper. Also just picked up a Faxon 16" barrel for another build. Waiting for a .625" gas block to show up. That will all be over on Patreon, cuz you know how them good ol folks that run y-t are.

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I will let you know the change I made to this set up. Instead of the spent brass, I used a cheap 8mm thick kitchen chopping board. I used a hole saw to cut the 6 pieces out, then sanded the edges off and pushed them inside the tripod. then using a 9mm drill bit, pushed it down through the middle (middle was already drilled out by the guide bit in the hole saw). Im in Australia hence mm. the middle of the tripod shaft gets tighter, but a hammer on top of the bolt and washer will get it in. works a charm!!

Tikka's are not finicky. You can shoot old discontinued powder and be good. In times like these, we make due with what we have and what we can find. It's not that hard to do, and it doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. Ramshot powders are still fairly inexpensive, maybe try some of that?
