Awesome video, and beautiful boat, I have a question, when tacking does the jib go by the boom ok or do you furl the jib a little when going about

@@johnhaughey5347 thanks for the nice words! No, I don’t furl it, that would be too much hassle. But needed to do something because indeed the jib sheet tends to hook on the boom. So I made some shockcord from boom to bow.

mighty fine video! While the Ilur happily digs in at quite a heel angle, she will sail faster when you ease off and reduce the angle a bit... even though it does look very cool.

Nice video. One of the few bits of Friesian I picked up is "Netsa Skaef" (spelling?) because that's what my Mom yelled at my Grandad. She is normally quite relaxed so the volume managed to overcome my language learning impediment.

@@Batlaw1 yes it is. But then still it comes out of the water when I am in the front of the boat, near the mast to hoist the sails. I am considering to install a podmotor in the skeg…

That depends on whether you buy a new one (€20k-25k) or a used one (5k-8k). Very rough estimates! Making it yourself is always the best, because the building process is as nice as the eventual sailing...

Hello, I will buy an Vivier Ilur , it is not sloop but classic one sail . Do you thin it is possible to adapt the « front sail » ( sorry I don’t know the English words for bout dehors , voile , foc …)

It is possible, but you have to adapt the mast step and frond deck, because a jib requires the mast to be in a more upright position and more aft than just a misanier sail. See the drawings in Vivier’s plans. www.vivierboats.com/wp-content/uploads/bsk-pdf-manager/37_ILUR-FR.PDF
