Interesting video. Loved the way you talked your way through it! 😁 One thing I would add is that you should clean the hub of rust and other debris so the brake drum runs true. If the drum is off at all, it can cause brake pulsations. Also, always torque the wheel lugs in a star pattern, so the wheel is tight against the drum

I start with a much larger diameter rod and roll it, then step down to a smaller diameter and repeat. Continue stepping down in diameter until you are at the right diameter. Then I hit the ends with CA and the final seams if a long piece.

Thank you, Alan. It really looks nicer in person too. The wheels weren't too bad at all. Did I miss that part, or did you forget to bleed those brake cylinders before you put the wheels back on? There's a bunch of air in there until you open the bleeder and push out the air with the brake pedal. That would keep your brakes from stopping well, and the pedal would be spongy.

Have been amazed that my lack of understanding of paper models had kept me “stuck on plastic” . But am intrigued by the possibilities and varieties I see offered (dang it now I need to learn somethin new) I belive the splinter camo was very sharp in the early years and as the war wore on they made changes in colors and styles. Like you rightly said, its your model so if you like it then that makes it Right. Especially as you are not making a specific aircraft but a general representative. Besides its only paint so if you change your mind you can repaint it. 👍
@dansmith7617
@dansmith7617 Ай бұрын
Thanks, Rancho. This one will just be a representative based on multiple subjects so this gives me a broad range. I sort of like it that way. Both plastic and paper are fun. I guess the main things about paper is low cost, many subjects and putting things together like the real thing. Give it a try at some point but there is a learning curve. Good thing is that you can transfer all of your other modeling skills to paper and it really helps. More soon and thank you for commenting! -Dan

Dan. If you carefully hold the Model Air paint bottle in one hand, you can apply lateral pressure to the dropper and it will separate from the bottle. Then just pour any leftover paint from your airbrush cup back into the bottle. The Me. Is looking fantastic!

I think you are right, Edward. I marvel at petal spinners and complex curves with cuts that look clean and amazing...when you are really talented! Sometimes I at least cover and repaint spinners and cowlings but I know that others can make them look great. This particular art work on the model was just too child-like and gaudy for my liking plus the colors seemed way off and I don't know how to recolor on a computer so this is my fall back! @@dansmith7617 No problem, I hope it works well for you.!! I love your models, you're obviously very skilled. I used to make a lot of military models when I was younger, especially WW2 & cold war war birds. There's just something about that era of aviation when they were making the transition from piston powered props to the jet age that's very intriguing to me.. I've moved on to radio controlled models now, mostly scale off road vehicles like Land Rover, Jeep, rock buggies etc, on road & a few aircraft. RC aircraft are incredibly easy to fly these days because of the autopilot that keeps the aircraft in a safe attitude & won't let you get into trouble. You can turn it off or set it so it allows aerobatics but won't let you lose control. They're also extremely durable, I've lawn darted mine a few times & because they're made from compressed foam they just bend straight back.! If you haven't tried an RC aircraft I can't recommend them highly enough, around £100 will get you a good fully aerobatic beginner plane.! (Wltoys XK A-160, it's a beautiful looking Piper Cub or the A-800 is a powered glider with an 800mm wingspan & the XK A-430 is an Extra 3D aerobatic plane.. It can even do a prop hang.! 😉) Please stay safe out there mate & the very best wishes from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🙏 ❤️ 📻 🕹️ 🔋 🚗 🚖 🚕 🚔 🚚 🚙 🚘 🚓 🚒 🚑 🚐 🚎 🚤 🚁 🛩️ 👍 👍 👍
