Sorry but how many people are going to play the same thing and the question is are they paying the royalties because i can upload every video from Pompeii to the lastes but will not because of copy right law and i dont want to make money off one of the greats groups.

The new remaster cut the sirens part short for some reason. This upload is the original and is far superior.

I don't know all the details of how it went in the '80s, but I liked all the songs I could find from them, so I wonder why they didn't make it.

Sting's whole demeanor changed from the year before with The Police, now in this interview he is a lot quieter and doesn't smile much...lol.

Wow there are at least two different versions of this song the same date and same place. I guess this one was meant to be for TV and the other for live band recording. Interesting

The Police actually did get together about a year after this interview to re-record some songs. Unfortunately, Stewart Copeland broke his collarbone riding a horse in a polo match. He couldn’t play the drums. This led to an absolutely ridiculous and terrible argument between Copeland and Sting over which drum machine to use and how to use it. Miles Copeland, the manager, had to intervene. But it was too late. So the recording session that could have led to their 6th album produced only a new version of Don’t Stand so Close to Me.

As the very moment the Sting interview was taking place in April 1984, the wheels were already turning for the Sting solo album which was released 14 months later.

Frightening to play electric guitar around water with tens of thousands of watts behind you! I know it’s relatively safe but people have been electrocuted. Great performance.

Nearly any artist can cover this if they are sincere and "get" the song. It says a lot about Bowie that Depeche Mode, Icehouse and others can do such a good job with it. Tremendous, really.

I was there. I saw this performance, was awesome, never really listened to Pink Floyd before then but Comfortably Numb was my intro, I remember Brick In The Wall when I was about 5 years old. When Pink Floyd played it started to rain when the laser show was on. it is an amazing sight to see each and every single raindrop lit up as they fell from the sky, Won't ever forget it.

Totally agree with David's summary - I first heard this song at the 5MMM(now 3D Radio) Battle of the Bands that the band won with this song, and Iooked forward to hearing it on record. It was a major disappointment - and not because this is a bad version, great song, great playing, great vocals --- but the production completely changed the song! I remember going, "What Have They Done!!"

He is polished at making comments that show off. He had in fact written some songs on Dream of The Blue Turtles before the Police was a band - In Newcastle, UK, with a group named No Exit.

I don’t care what people say,but it was a very sad day when The Police broke up,their music is so unique, powerful songs that will always be remembered. A once in a lifetime band, brilliant vocals, brilliant guitarist and brilliant drummer. They came together by sheer accident while other groups grew up together as friends. Best 5 Police songs: Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic;Every Breath You Take;Don’t Stand So Close To Me;Synchronicity 2 and Message In A Bottle.
