The repair lasted longer than the rest of the screen! I got about another year out of it then the rest of it crumbled. Thanks for asking!

HI Tom, What are the dimensions of the shed?
@buildwithtom
@buildwithtom 9 ай бұрын
Hi Jonathan. The shed is 12' long by about 44" deep and 6' tall in the back and about 7' tall in the front. I can get exact measurements if needed.

Thanks for your comment janskyheart. I must admit I'm still learning what to include in my videos so your comment is very helpful! Here is the product I used: www.homedepot.ca/product/peak-roof-edge-flashing-white-2-3-4-inch-x-7-8-inch-x-3-4-inch-x-3-8-inch/1000163408 and it goes on after the waterproof membrane and before the shingles. Hope that helps!

Hi Matt. I used rubberized hooks with a threaded end. Here is the link to the ones I used: a.co/d/ih4PIPj. I've been thinking of republishing this video series with more details and some voiceover.

Hey, these turned out great! I love how you had the whole family involved. If I were to make a suggestion it would be to just edit these all into one video. Unless that's just the format you would prefer.

Hi! I was totally thinking that having it all in one video might be helpful but decided to split them so each one wasn't too long. Think it's worth re-uploading as a single video? Thanks for the feedback :).

Hey Tom. I'm just checking out your bike shed series and I am curious why you changed your siding. I noticed that this time you left the overhang to direct water away from your base, but other than that were there any other treasons for that choice?
@buildwithtom
@buildwithtom Жыл бұрын
The previous siding was simple OSB and I was worried about the durability over time. This product is OSB but has a nice wax/primer layer which gives it a bit more weather resistance. The outer layer is pretty tough and was hard to start the screws in :)

Yes please! What material is on the outside? Curious do live in a dry climate? Or is this she’d bake to withstand rain / snow?

Yes pls. Would love info about how you designed the foundation, how you brace the wall against the weight and movement of the bikes, the dimensions you considered for doorways and the height of the storage, what hangers you used on the walls, how you staggered/positioned the hangers so its' not a pain to get each bike in and out amongst other bikes, whether you can lock the bikes to the hangers, how you lock the shed. All this would be super helpful. And what kind of weather treatment you applied to your materials, what kind of hardware you used, and how much it cost?
@buildwithtom

@@Hg99661 thanks for the question. I ended up using something with a finished outside coating that is very tough (like hard to screw through). I got it from a local store so hard to generalize but it was around $35 a sheet and you'd likely find similar in your area by searching/asking for "shed siding". Here's an example in Canada: www.rona.ca/en/product/exterior-siding-panel-wood-4-x-8-x-7-16-pzps04088c07-54835072. We live in Canada so 13 of 12 months are winter.

@@yousweetpotato1 thanks so much for your detailed comment! I'm not sure if you watched the other videos (1-3) but some of what you're looking for is there albeit in the same format with little explanation. I've been tumbling the idea of a detailed explanation video around in my head for a while now so these thoughts/ideas will be very helpful. I suspect I have most of the info you're looking for and could share easily although the measurements etc. were at least in part worked out as I went along. I had a reasonable understanding of the dimensions of the basic shape before I started then I kinda just dug in. Thanks again - T

Fantastic build & a big help. Thanks. i have quite a few medical limitations; so my planning stage is going on a year + now. Really need to be sure i have all of my ducks & jigs in a row before pumping up the meds asking for a hand and going for it. Any suggestions about the molding, trim. lid, or hinge? Plan to build mostly like JP- & TG w/ some changes because of my medical situation 1/2 inch not 3/4 etc. Hope you make more videos. Thanks- ♿Lisa🛠

Hi - did you end up building the box?
@starhawke380
@starhawke380 5 жыл бұрын
Great video. Im finishing up my second one now for my second grand daughter. First one was made with birch plywood and poplar trim and just clear coated to show the wood. Second one is red oak plywood and red oak trim with the main box stained golden oak, and the trim pieces stained with red oak. The contrast looks amazing. It made me laugh at the end with the child hiding in the box. My grand daughter does that and the first time scared the heck out of my daughter because she couldnt find her! I thought it was funny and high fived my grand daughter, but my daughter was not amused. Great boxes for family fun!

Wow cool...most yellowjackets build their nest underground so these were "aireal" sp? yellowjackets. And they did seem decidedly more mellow than usual. I've seen guys in full head to toe bee suits get tagged real bad by yellowjackets...once they get mad enough these things can sting through leather. Nice work.

Yep I finished it, but I wasnt able to get that moulding in my country, so I've decided to add some simple one. I think that in future I will invest some money in that bit, because I allready saw it in a couple of projects and its look great.
