for a 1-2 day ride, could these be a good option? I've got all my tools and spares in a saddle bag. Need space for a thin rain jacket, a pair of shorts and tshirt, and a charger... too much?
@chrisrebbeck6 ай бұрын
probably too much. Is your spare tube a 29er basic one or a gravel tubilito? I think you need circa 3 litres to fit that in.
@vbnxt6 ай бұрын
My tube’s a regular one and it’s all stored in a different bag. this frame bag would be just for 1 day’s change of clothes, a jacket, a charger and a jacket
@chrisrebbeck6 ай бұрын
@@vbnxt ok, I misunderstood. I think you could compress your clothes into this. I do find the zips stiff and would prefer something like the ortilieb roll top if I ws stuffing clothes into it. Would work though.

Gonna give these a shot on my Grail. Bought the 700x50 version with graphene. Hopefully better weight on those. Currently running Swalbe G_one bite. I do a lot of road & a mini amount of gravel riding on that bike . Update ... Bought the 700cx50..lots of volume . Ran them 27.5psi rear 26 front. Very rough, lose & slightly wet terrain. I was utterly surprised they handled it fairly well. Very capable for a center slick with very , very mild side knobs.

How does resting at the tops feel? Doesn't it feel awkward with the lack of sweep coz the tops looks straight.

Prob the best video ive seen on NCR 2. I'll be doing it in a couple of weeks from Commando Training Centre Royal Marines (Lympstone) to Eastney Barracks Portsmouth as part of the RM 1664 ride. This is a good heads up to see what I'll be expecting. Thanks for uploading.

Thanks for posting this, it looks an amazing ride. I can't wait to get a train to Dover and pick it up from there. A lot more slowly than you though, I can't believe how far you covered in 2 days.

Hi Chris, does the Apidura Musette a good job so far?

I hated these tires. They are narrower than other 38c or 40c tires, which means you have to put more pressure on them and get more punctures, lose more sealant and get a stiffer ride in return. They're more expensive and less capable than their competition. Changed to a cheaper Kenda Flintridge pro and to a Schwalbe afterwards and will never go back to one of these. On the positive side, yeah, probably nothing runs faster and smoother among gravel tires than these.

Great video Chris! I'm eyeing this exact model for the same features you mentioned. PRO doesn't make the same version in carbon though. Did you come across any other brands in carbon with the same features? I need a very short reach, 65mm or even less. Cheers

I have the same bike with Ultegra R8000. I swapped the wheels for Hed Ardennes. They give it a more compliant ride. The total bike weighs under 27 lb.s. You scored a great bike. They corner like they're on rails and climb very efficiently. I swapped out the cassette for an 11-32. Enjoy your new steed.

I came for your review of the pro discover handlebars and was happy to learn in this review you also ride a Bokeh. Would you say the Pro Discover handlebars could be a good fit for the Bokeh? Mine came with the Deda Gravel 100 stock bars which seem to have a too long reach for me in my current setup (XL frame, 90mm stem).
@chrisrebbeck2 жыл бұрын
Yes, excellent bars...BUT. Because they are internally routed, I find if you have a 2x system, it doesn't like being squeezed and aggressively turned around tight angles in the handlebars. I would only get internal routed carbon bars if I was 1x or electric groupset.

Was looking for a good test of those tyres as my current schwalbe g one speeds need replacing and they seem to have doubled in price! These seem good value. Good video, I live in Snowdonia so I like something fast but big. Tends to not really get muddy just slate/gravel.

Hey Chris, thanks for the review. I'm looking at these tyres as a cross-over between road cycling and some light gravel as my road bike has bigger clearance. How do these tyres grip on wet tarmac? This is one of my main issues as it rains a lot and would be great to have some traction in the rain, especially the corners. :)

I was using Vittoria terreno zeros on 650 X 47. Would recommend them highly as they were way more resilient than I thought (no punctures) and fast everywhere. Would not expect them to be a good choice if it was wet though.

Hey Chris. That bag looks very good. The straps look pretty beefy. But I agree entirely with you about those two attachment slits -- they look like they might wear a bit if I use the bag to carry a lot of stuff. Waterproof is important. But so is durability. What do you reckon? Has it held up? Cheers

It's held up really well and very waterproof. I've been impressed particularly for the price it retails for.

I'm really considering the Ronde wheelset for delivery to the US. By the numbers, they check most the boxes for me. They seem like a nice all-arounder and light enough to be a good climbing wheel...I just don't see much about them review wise!

@@perrylangis165 There's not alot of reviews but the ones that are available give them top marks. For an all road wheel i can't speak highly enough of them...I like them so much I'm considering getting another pair withthe Kogel ceramic bearing upgrade. They’re more way more agile than I expected.

I agree on slow cornering: Mine, too, struggles with very steep turns. Otherwise, it's very fast on tarmac (I'm no fan off off-road / gravel rides, although I very much appreciate the WarBird's ability to can cope with almost any terrain, coupled with its relatively high max. system load stat). It is My favourite bike of 15 or thereabouts I've had over the years, incl. the 5 I have today (if by a hair, compared to the Genesis Datum and the Norco Search XR C). I also find the WarBird particularly beautiful, up there with the much more exclusive and expensive Bastion road bikes (and the Bokeh - particularly ugly).

I’ve only just found your videos - interesting and lovely scenery! Glad you like your longitude. I built one up from a frame with 29 x2.4s on. Can recommend as they roll through rough stuff really well and it climbs well also - have conti mountain king/X king tubeless. Also had the same dilemma re frame bag and in the end sent a template in to Alpkit designed to fit the longitude and also my Genesis Vagabond. The bag is excellent quality and quite reasonable considering it’s custom built!
