This is a great review. I am hoping to ride 80% road 20% gravel... On my brand new giant defy... And I was contemplating between the gravel King slicks in 35 or the schwalbe g one rs in 35....

Schwalbe g one rs get rave reviews. 👍🏻

I run the 38 GK SS+ on Hunt x-wide carbon wheels. Pain in the ass to seat. Had to use a tire lever to seat the bead most of the way then used an air compressor. No issues on my DTSWISS. Fyi the 48mm Oracle Ridge fit on our Warbirds in 700c.

You had the Vittoria Terreno Zero, they come in 700c-32/35/38 too.

I wanted a proper road tyre over the gravel leaning zeros. Great tyre though!

I was thinking the same thing in tanwall or maybe the Panaracer Paselas? Youve pretty much already ridden all the options out there in a slick supple size, I would probably do the Vittoria Terrenos in supple tanwall, I too have a love hate relationship with my Gravelking SK's them things are a pain to mount and the bead is so hard it loves leaking sealant from the bead. Also take a look at Specialized and Trek/Bontrager they have some pretty interesting tires also

I've used GK slick in 35mm all winter, they're much less prone to flint cuts than the schwalbe, and they grip well, last ages and I think look good. I'm sold. I have done some silly Welsh 'gravel' on them too, much better than I expected on clean forest roads even in the wet, but terrifying on grass or mud! I'm mid 80's kg and run them high 40's front low 50's rear.

Really promising to hear! Good experience here so far for sure. Exactly the same pressures for me at 82kgs

I’m also riding LeJog in the summer. I’m thinking Pirelli Cinturato 32 or Vitoria Corsa 2.0 30; still looking at different options. Have used Panaracer and endless punctures. Given up on tubeless; it’s back to tubes for me. If I see you on the road you can have my Dynaplugs.

I've run the cinturatos on a C3 in 32mm and really liked them. Nearly tried the 35mm version on the warbird this year. All the best with your LEJOG ride Julian.

Glad I'm not the only one having a nightmare getting the Gravelkings to mount. They definitely puncture easily compared to the Schwalbes and my rear bead is still leaking sealant three weeks later. Lovely to ride but so far a nightmare to live with.

I really liked the schwalbe, one puncture that the sealant couldn't deal with and I didn't have a plug at the time. The new ones seem expensive though.

If a tyre doesn't seat it's usually because the bead is a little loose, put an extra turn of rim tape on and it'll probably be fine. I had the same issue on a set on pacenti rims, put three turns of tape on issue sorted. On DT Swiss I used two turns. Stans tape if I remember, I don't trust the DT Swiss tape, had it fail and make a horrible mess.

Put another layer of rim tape on, usually sorts it.

I have ridden schwalbe pro one 30mm on the front and schwalbe one 30mm on the rear all winter and had few issues whilst cycling on short gravel sections and rough roads for about 2000 km. I did have pro one on the back but had two punctures caused by flints but the One seems more robust without the penalty of a tyre like Durano. Carry Stans Dart with you and look out for a few riders from newbury.

I found the Stan's darts to be useless in truth! Gone across to dynaplug.

The only thing is, is actually finding something in stock. I was after some 28mm tubeless. Normally use continental but could not find anything and ended getting goodyear F1 tubeless. No idea if they are any good, but it’s what I could get.

Be interesting to hear your thoughts on the Goodyear’s. It is hard to get some cycling parts at present.

Are you riding the so called LEJOG Gravel route which is in fact 50% tarmac/50% gravel or are you going pretty much all the way on tarmac? ridewithgps.com/routes/35580059

All road much to my dismay! But, the group are mostly road riders.
