In the middle of the war with blu-ray I believed in HDVD I had 1PC with an HDVD reader-writer an HD EP 35 living room deck despite the short time I was able to use this format I found this magic format is extremely obsolete when it was abandoned but hey who plays loses or wins... personally I preferred the HDVD image but hey that was a lot of money thrown out the window both for us users and for Toshiba !! So I bought a Toshiba Blu Ray, it's very small and it's great! J'avais acheté d'occasion le PIONEER DV 717 un super 96kHz/24bit DAC J'écoute seulement les CD Audio et j'ai branché le bluetooth de chez OEHLBACH BTR INNOVATION 5.2 et j'écoute avec le casque bluetooth de Bowers & Wilkins Px7 S 2 J'écoute actuellement de la musique classique et du Jazz, Je pensais pas avoir une telle sonorité ❤

I picked up a DP-80l/DC-81l off eBay in fantastic condition. It blows my mind this player from 1988 sounds as good and even better than some modern DACs today.

The amount of technology, design and innovation Sony did just with the MD is unbelievable. Companies like Apple nowadays produce the same device for 15yrs and barely change anything on them. Its amazing how even after 20+ years there are still MD players and disks available so we can enjoy them. What new electronic device that you buy now is gonna last 25yrs?

Mine are at 4:10 Denon DVD-955. Impressive sound quality on CD and SACD playback.

HIMD should be defauld audio format. CD's was always kinda "trash".

I have a net MD and HiMD.Old.Many times not working.But format and sound quality under 48000 sampling is un parallel.

Got one of these, MZ-1, can only run it on mains now as battery died yonks ago.

The BDP-85FD Elite and BDP-88FD Elite should've been presented as 'universal' players, they are SACD & DVD-Audio capable.

I found a DVR-555HX for cheap recently. Surprisingly, DVDs look great when played on an OLED TV. They even look great on an HD CRT TV.

It makes me really sad watching this because this was Sony at the height of its innovative and creative digital powers era (CD,MD,SACD,DVD,DAT,BLU-RAY) I started my journey at the beginning with the MZ1 followed by MZR3. In the middle with MZE75 and then at the end with MZ-NH1 and MZ-RH10 & MZ-RH1❤ I think you've solved a 30-year mystery for me. I had two MZ1 both would produce disc errors when trying to record past 60mins onto a 74 minute disc - I noticed you stated in your summary that it will play back 74 minutes but only record 60!😯 If only a few of those "home market" machines had made it into Europe and the UK 😭

Bought in 2003 and have up to this day a DV-563A and nowadays it's on duty mainly as a TRANSPORT to a SMSL external DAC. However the PIONEER still plays my couple of SACD flawlessly. My best regards from Brazil !!! 😁

I have ten or eleven different models from this list, some of them in three or four different colours. I am not normal. These are very likeable and beautifully built machines. They look futuristic, but with an obvious level of nostalgia. It’s nice to have a physical format and not to use a computer or smart device to listen to music.
