Thank you, your videos are really helpful. I started off with a 5 gallon tank (originally I was going to buy only a betta fish). I cycled the tank for 6 weeks and everything in terms of ammonia, nitrate etc was spot on. I continued to test for a further 2 weeks before introducing a young bristle nose pleco and a few bronze corydas. I have a sponge filter, heater set to 26, aquarium light with neo soil 4 plants, with branch and caves for hiding places. Unfortunately after a few days 2 of the 3 corys were showing signs of stress so I added aquarium salt following the guidelines on the company's website. Sadly they didn't make it. I kept checking the parameters and over the next couple of weeks the pleco and cory seemed to have settled. Again everything test wise was all okay. The only thing I noticed was that algae grew quickly and clung to literally everything. So much so, the plants started to die off even after cleaning them. When I did small water changes I made a point of clearing as much algae without stressing out the fish. I used prime conditioner each time I did a water change, and fed both the pleco and cory algae wafers which contained bloodworm. I knew I'd need a bigger tank for the betta fish and its tank buddies, so shortly after buying the fish I quickly bought a 66 litre tank and I'm in the process of growing carpet seeds. (Your video on it has really helped, I've come across some where they misted and used lights but it took months). I'm definitely going to try your method. Anyway, I noticed my cory (Sir twinkle butt, sir because of the moustache and a play on twinkle toes, fish have no toes.. and they're pretty much sparkly everywhere hence butt, my kids loved the name) looked as though it was swimming around slightly on its side. Hindsight, I should have added aquarium salt and swim bladder medicine sooner, but I thought it was a one off and it was swimming okay until today. I woke up and switched their light on and there was sir twinkle butt swimming on his side, darting around the tank, eating. I quickly added the recommended dose of aquarium salt and was at the pet store at opening and purchased swim bladder. Sadly when I got home, it was swimming upside down. I still had hope because I've previously had fish pull through. But the cory deteriorated so quickly, I'm gutted I wasn't able to save it. The only thing I can think of is maybe it got stressed (my daughter is being assessed for adhd and has major meltdowns, screeches). Would you recommend waiting a few days before adding algae hair removal/even adding ghost shrimp to help clear the algae, I don't want to stress out my lone survivor, he tends to hide under his branch rather than the tank walls, so naturally he had to be named Shy 😅. Any help/advice will be greatly appreciated, 😅 🙏 thanks, Sarah. Apologies for the long post 🫣😶‍🌫️.

Does inbreeding fix one or a set of genes affecting eg tails vs all genes. There are many other genes for disease resistance, environment tolerance, fertility etc. which may need to be bred out, also by selection. These videos are useful to understand the underlying genetics. Thank you.

OK this looks great and very doable for our situation. Good job 👍🏽 we have mega tree roots so we can’t dig. So do you have a filter system? Because changing the water, every day is a huge disgusting task, and our water bill is outrageous. Do you have a part one? I subscribe to your channel and after scrolling for a couple minutes I can’t find it . Thank you for getting back to me in advance

Put some upside down, bread trays, or milk crates in the pond That would allow the fish to hide from raccoons.
