What a great idea. We just rescued over 30 cats from an abandoned home and the shelters in 100 mille radius are loaded. No help with altering or homing and three females are ready to birth!! They are all strapped for money and room so I hope your offer helps your chosen group!

You probably think the Grand Canyon is just a hole in the ground!😂 Perspective usually helps with awe and understanding. When you’re traveling through the chunnel it is interesting to imagine trying to build it, or talking about all the different details that need to come together to make it work. Your kids might be too young to understand what they were seeing or experiencing. When I take my students on field trips they appreciate things way more if they have background. Reading Flags of Our Fathers before seeing the Marine memorial in DC, or reading about the sculptor who made Limcoln’s Emancipation proclamation statue that stands in the capital (young girl from Wisconsin with no formal art education-so short she had to use a pulley system to hoist herself in the air) made the students stop and stare and connect what they knew with what they were seeing. I love watching their faces and expressions when discovering things that they know about. Otherwise it’s just a statue, just a rock, whatever. If it doesn’t light up and move there’s no appreciation. I hope your future trips are more successful.

Audrey, you have inspired me to try 56 ct. Is 100.3 the best thread to use on it? Thanks
@StitchStitchBead
@StitchStitchBead 8 күн бұрын
I prefer 100.3s on 56 ct, yes. Some would suggest Soie Surfine but I like the bolder stitches that 100.3s give you and I find that when a knot unfortunately appears, the 100.3s are much easier to deal with than Soie Surfine. So glad you’re going to try 56 ct! Let me know how you like it! 🥰

Great video, thanks. I enjoy quilting small table toppers etc and I love wool applique! I buy most of my wool from various stores but I have also bought skirts and a couple of capes & jackets from thrift stores and cut them up for wool applique. Audrey, I hope you get rid of that tooth! How miserable. But I’m glad you toughed it out and did this flosstube. Your travels fascinate me……we are stay-at-homes and happy to be. But I love hearing about your travels with the boys. And I’m most impressed that you are going to branch out a bit and try embroidery, ribbon embroidery and hand piecing! Good for you! I hope you love them all. I’ve tried embroidery and it’s not my gig, but it is very popular now and the work one sees is lovely. Sian the Periwinkle Stitcher does some lovely things and she enjoys it so much. She’s charming. You are not an ‘old hand’ as are Laura and Brenda, but you have become a very experienced stitcher and you have embraced the community and made a place for yourself there. On Dorcas Haynes, the original belongs to the Fitzwilliam Museum, and they have this wonderful feature (sadly not for all samplers, but I did check and it exists for Dorcas) called Mirador deep zoom. On the object record, look at the bottom of the image, click Mirador deep zoom, and it will take you into a high resolution image that you can zoom into down to the thread. You can use it to supplement the chart, which might make it easier. It's certainly easy to see what goes where, what each stitch is, etc. Enjoy! Dorcas is one of the great samplers out there.
