I had to stop the video for a second because at 1:35, Jenna Ortega just SELLS Wednesday's facial expression of being quietly but utterly impressed at Enid's plan. The eyes darting to her left toward Enid just before she turns around, like Wednesday is saying "Oh, she's good!" in her head.

Enid, under her smiles, is a disappointment to her mother while a part of herself is trapped inside. Her mother tries to send her to conversion therapy to make her "normal," but Enid resists and ultimately "comes out" on her own terms, earning the respect and affection of another girl in the process. Hmm. Pretty obvious allegory in retrospect.

Looking at that hug with the girls nuzzling into each other, I imagined Wednesday really liking the smell of Enid covered in blood and dirt, kinda looking like a murder victim. "Mmm, she smells like a graveyard..." And of course, Enid, as the loyal golden retriever puppy she is, would want to take in her friend's scent as much as possible.

Me too. I hope they start having a crush on each other at the beginning of season 2 or pre-season 2. Thing can sense Wednesday is hiding something and try’s to get her to talk. They eventually kiss in the second to last episode and get today in the last episode

I love the fact that Enid is patient with Wednesday and gives her the space she needs and lets her come out in her own time which scores 'browny points' with Wednesday. Also I love how Wednesday is comfortable around Enid enough to come out of her shell at her own pace

Enid's patience with and endurance to all the things life throws at her is one of my favorite facets to her character. Her new roomie is dark in nature and doesn't seem to want to engage with her, her home life doesn't seem all that great because she hasn't come out yet, and then there is usual teenage love and school stuff. Yet, Enid still makes the effort to face a day with a smile, she still tried to keep and make friends, and is SO patient with letting Wednesday open up to her in her own time (even if that patience was broken at one point). Being there for her ultimately helped everything else work out too. She freaking EARNED that hug from Wednesday and I think the real world needs more people like her.
