I love the fact that Enid is patient with Wednesday and gives her the space she needs and lets her come out in her own time which scores 'browny points' with Wednesday. Also I love how Wednesday is comfortable around Enid enough to come out of her shell at her own pace

Enid's patience with and endurance to all the things life throws at her is one of my favorite facets to her character. Her new roomie is dark in nature and doesn't seem to want to engage with her, her home life doesn't seem all that great because she hasn't come out yet, and then there is usual teenage love and school stuff. Yet, Enid still makes the effort to face a day with a smile, she still tried to keep and make friends, and is SO patient with letting Wednesday open up to her in her own time (even if that patience was broken at one point). Being there for her ultimately helped everything else work out too. She freaking EARNED that hug from Wednesday and I think the real world needs more people like her.

Enid, under her smiles, is a disappointment to her mother while a part of herself is trapped inside. Her mother tries to send her to conversion therapy to make her "normal," but Enid resists and ultimately "comes out" on her own terms, earning the respect and affection of another girl in the process. Hmm. Pretty obvious allegory in retrospect.
