You guys killed it with the humor in this episode. Best comments (I'm paraphrasing): (1) Maybe Bronwyn could fill Lisa's canvas bag with bandages and first-aid supplies that she could bring to the dog park with her. (2) That might just be how Todd shows affection, by ignoring you, and degrading you, and then buying you diamond rings to make up for his infidelity.

Love you two! But I wanted to add for clarification, Mormons and any FLDS don't pass an offering tray. They collect directly from their patrons through tithing. 10% of your pay. Probably digital these days, but when I attended it was a little brown envelope next to the Bishop's office that you would put your cash in and put in the wall drawer (like a book return drawer)

Absolutely wild how Kody says they can't have the girls get in a cult or a bad marriage .. yet have taught them zero critical thinking skills and they've told to just obey their "leader" .. 😵💫unless they are VERY lucky, odds are low (with their social circle) that they get a kind and compassionate husband rather than a domineering twat .. yikes. The lack of insight never ceases to amaze me, lol.

Robyn seems like she has borderline personality disorder, and kids of BPD parents are taught to be afraid of everything by their mother, the BPDs message to her kids is "you are not safe". The girls panic attacks, the constant grimmace on their face, the inability to manage their emotions...... all Robyns fault. THese girls have a choice, embrace mom and become her, or separate themselves. I dont think the giles have the strength (yet) to separate themselves

Love your podcast! One note about crime scenes - I know the 90s feel like ages ago to people who were children at that time, but as a 90s adult, i can assure you that protecting crime scenes was a well known thing back then. We had all the crime news magazine shows - dateline, 48 hours, 60 minutes, 20/20, and many more. The fact that the police allowed everyone and their uncle to walk freely around the house is insane. You guys made me think about how police and former military are often perpetrators of crimes and it made me wonder about that cop who wrote the book. This man just doubles down on his theory - maybe he's trying to shift the blame. I'd put him at the top of my suspect list!

Love your podcast! Apologies in advance for being a little pedantic about the parable of the workers in the vineyard, lol, but the part that got left out was that the workers that worked the whole day had agreed to the "50 shmeckels" as a fair amount for their day of labor before they started working. They were upset that the boss was generous and decided to give all the workers who came after the same amount instead of an hourly or prorated amount, but before they thought other people were getting "more than they deserved" they were fine with the original agreed upon amount. I personally take it as a warning against being way too into resource guarding, you know, "How dare the 'welfare queen' get help she didn't work for like I did," etc. Ok that's all, here's to just wages for all regardless! ✊

LOL guys, I don't think by 'broken window' he meant smashed glass.. more like the hardware needed repairing 😆 Keeping in mind context - this was the 90s, he was the breadwinner - wldn't be surprised if household tasks were left to Patsy and being immediately post-treatment for stage 4 ca, it might have slipped her mind. I personally think the Burke theory is insane. Even if he could crack her on the head, to then lug her to the basement, with no sound, and think of all these deplorable things to do to her? Make a garrote?? Nutso. Also his being on the Autism Spectrum rings very true re: his behaviour/reactions/awkward laughing etc. The police seemed entirely useless and tunnel vision from the get go. Would love to see the mixed DNA texted at current standards and it's unacceptable that they can just .. refuse to do that??
@survivingpod25 күн бұрын
John did say he broke the window, and there are interviews of Patsy saying she made sure to clean up the glass from it - so I'm not sure how damaged it was, but it sounded like there was shattered glass to some extent. And yes! The Burke theory was interesting after the 2016 CBS doc, but it becomes ridiculous when applying it to the entire case. We're 100% on an intruder - probably ex-military/law enforcement who had access to the pageants, perhaps a security guard or something like that. Stalker obsessive who had been in the house multiple times without the family knowing which explains how he was VERY familiar with the layout of the house. The DNA keeps ruling people out - we need to be sure it's valid and accurate!

Okay I'm confused. The show tells us the proposal was in Moab, but when telling Janelle, Christine says it happened in Flagstaff? "So we're standing there and he's like I wanna be with you, you're the most beautiful person I know.." (19:00) - do we think the Moab proposal was a fake scene/filmed for the show? Was the real one in Flagstaff? Or am I just confused, lol.

I'm a little confused about the time line between D and C. Christine said at one point that they talked via texting etc for a month THEN they met in person. So was it five days after meeting in person that they declared love or was it during the texting?? This could be what she meant when she told Kody she had been dating him for 6 weeks or 2 months but "knew him a little before that." Just confusing but it is a posibility, I think!!
@survivingpodАй бұрын
Not sure how long they were chatting online before meeting up in person, but the timeline as we know it was that they met in-person at the beginning of December of 2022; started looking at houses to purchase together in January of 2023; then Christine posted on social media at in early February 2023 that she was "starting to date" and asked for advice on Instagram; Valentine's ay 2023 she introduced David to the world as her soulmate; they're officially engaged shortly after that and then married in October of 2023
